Positive thinking certainly didn’t help NBC’s new reality series, Breakthrough with Tony Robbins, in the ratings. The TV show’s been pulled after just two episodes.
In Breakthrough with Tony Robbins, self-help master Tony Robbins seeks to help ordinary people overcome big challenges so that they can begin living their lives to their true potential.
The first episode of Breakthrough got off to a very poor start with a 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic and only 3.12 million viewers. That put the debut in fourth place in both areas.
This week’s installment attracted about the same in the demo but total viewership fell to 2.76 million viewers. How low could the ratings go?

We won’t get to find out. NBC has pulled Breakthrough effective immediately. They’ve replaced it with repeats of Minute to Win It for the foreseeable future.
This leaves four episodes of Breakthrough on the shelf, unaired. The network hasn’t made any indication that they’ll burn off the remaining installments. There is no way that NBC will be ordering any more episodes and the show’s been confirmed as cancelled.
What do you think? Did you like Breakthrough with Tony Robbins? Why do you think the show didn’t succeed in attracting more viewers?

We were quite shocked when we found out that Mr. Robins was getting his own show, we were quite happy. I said to my wife there may still be hope in Network TV, how on earth he found someone with a brain to actually talk to at NBC was a miracle in itself. During the first episode my thought was how people in general would actually view a totally positive show. Understanding the air waves are full of doom and gloom with Constant Negative News, will people understand what the show is all about? We as people need inspirational, positive… Read more »
How can NBC air a game show vs. Breakthrough with Tony Robbins? I was looking for the 3rd show to air and it was about Infidelity. I was so looking forward to it. Damn!
That is unbelievable!! That was a very interesting and inspiring show for millions of people. Big mistake NBC! And especially for not advertising it enough! How devastating 🙁

I think that “Breakthrough” didn’t go over well because “it is too realistic, too close to what people are going though in their lives…and when they watch TV they do it to numb their minds…or forget their real situations”. At least I found the website that has a link to HULU which will make available “all 6 of the taped episodes” (unless that information is out of date). I just watched the first two episodes that did air on NBC, but I saw them on HULU. http://www.breakthroughinsider.com/?ec=137843 Is this proof positive that most people want to just be entertained, amused,… Read more »
@Ron: Here’s a link to watch the four unaired episodes: http://tvseriesfinale.com/tv-show/breakthrough-with-tony-robbins-last-episodes-17289/
I can’t believe that they pulled the show off. It was very interesting and motivational. Its an exact show that people need in this world at this time. But Nooo.. lets watch the rich mofos how they spend money on sh** and just “wish” we can have that….(talking about any Housewife shows)…. Or better yet, lets watch Jersey Shore…. I couldn’t believe that they did that. Now America, you can see how money is important to corporates. Instead of helping few millions of people understanding things and look at things differently they want you to be one of those Snooky… Read more »
What a bummer. I think Tony’s Show was wonderful. A positive twist on a very negative world. If a person paid attention and applied the principles of Tony’s show to their own life the world would be a much better place.
I am devastated that this show was cancelled! I adore Tony Robbins and cried after every episode (I watched the remaining episodes online). They replaced the slot with Minute to win it??!! R u kidding me? The world wants to watch a meaningless game show rather than a positive show. I have learned so much from Tony in this short time NBC should re consider this show and cancel minute to win it!!
I really liked the show! the first episode was so touching. So much better than J Michaels screaming at people to change their lives. I thought NBC’s promo for the show was sub par. It might have found a great audience on Bravo. More game show air time? Come on!
I loved the show, I only saw the first episode but taped the second because we were on holidays. Can’t believe they would cancel such a postive show.
Unfortunately it seems, a lot of people watch TV to mostly to laugh and to hear that someone else is struggling more than they are so that it doesn’t seem all that bad. People also watch TV to ignore their flaws and challenges and to tune out and Tony Robbins is about tuning within. It seems people would rather wait to be forced to change, when there is no other choice. I think the show would’ve gotten more attention if he demonstrated a better way to deal with todays teen issues. I would like to see how he could turnaround… Read more »
I’m very disappointed. This show was entertaing and inspirtional. It encouraged even me, with a little effort, to push the envelope and set new goals.
‘Minute To Win It’? Now there’s a quick fix.
Bummer on show being canceled. First show, in particular, was great. I was looking forward to other shows!
Unfortunately, I do not get the show bc am currently living outside the US in Central America. However, I am familiar with Tony’s work and thought the idea of the show was great! But of course, leaving it up to NBC executives who only look at the immediate number of viewer and not at long range numbers would only think $$ not ideals. Wonder why America is slipping up in SO many ways? It is that kind of short term, only $$ matters reasoning, which has messed up the country. I am so disappointed in America right now…and the CRAP… Read more »
I am very disappointed that NBC cancelled break through with Tony Robbins. It is very sad that it is all about money and not the content. The difference that Tony has made in the lives of millions of people are remarkable. I guess media is not ready for quality programming.
Im very sad I really liked the show. It would be nice if there is a way we could watch the rest of the shows even if it is not aired.
Tony’s motivation has been inspiring. Over the last two decades, he has my life improved exponentially. When it gets difficult his words lift me. More people should chck his ideas out!
Tony, please take your show to another station and show them what a rash and poor judgement they’ve made!
