Starz has decided to cancel their Camelot TV series after one season. While the ratings weren’t bad for the Arthurian show, the numbers aren’t necessarily the whole reason why there won’t be a second season.
Camelot, as you might have guessed, is based on the legend of King Arthur. The series stars Jamie Campbell Bower as a young King Arthur, with Joseph Fiennes as Merlin, Eva Green as Morgan, and Tamsin Egerton as Guinevere.
The premiere attracted 1.1 million viewers with a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That marked the cable channel’s most-watched and highest-rated original series premiere to date. Unfortunately, the second installment dropped 24% in total viewership and subsequent episodes dropped even further. Still, by the end of the season, the ratings were on an upswing. The finale nearly matching the viewership of the premiere.
While Camelot may have ordinarily ended up getting a renewal from Starz, the ratings weren’t the only factor in play.
A statement from a Starz representative notes, “Due to significant production challenges, Starz has decided not to exercise the option for subsequent seasons of Camelot with our production partners GK-tv, Octagon Films and Take 5 Productions.” Deadline reports that some of those “challenges” included scheduling conflicts with some of the actors.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Camelot has been cancelled? Would you have liked to have seen a second season?

I am very upset that there will not be a season 2 of Camelot. I wanted so much to see who would play Lancelot. It was such a great first season. I just wish Starz would carry on the story.
Starz fails again… I’m upset to see another good show go unfinished. Each week this series left me anticipating the next and I find out the story will never finish. Although I know that the lead actor of Spartacus getting cancer is not to blame on the network, that show, party down, and now Camelot will go without continuation. Starz just has terrible luck with the series that they produce. I will keep watching the channel because I am rarely dissatisfied with the shows and hope that maybe one of the shows will make it more than a season or… Read more »
Really enjoyed the show…will miss it.
im sad to hear that there will not be any more seasons, my friend got me hooked on the show. I hope they do change their minds and continue the show.
I am very sad if they decide to shelf Camelot. Just in case I have made a petition to present to Straz entertainment LLC. I just started last night and need it to get to other fan sites. Thanks

I can’t believe it’s been cancelled. I thought it was the best show I’d seen in a long time and I’m genuinely upset that I won’t know what happens next. An absolute travesty.
Big big big mistake cancelling second series. First was brilliant with every character interesting. The fact that it followed the same genre as spartacus is a bonus rather than a turn off point. Whoever decided to cancel 2nd series should be given the sack!
Just read some of the comments from people who didn’t like the show…seems they were the types who were more into the slo-mo violence of that lame-ass Spartacus show. Betting StarZ will bring back Spartacus, bad acting, excuse for sex n’ violence combo that people have been brainwashed into liking. Camelot had great sets, gorgeous costumes, beautiful scenery, interesting conflicted REAL characters, good acting, good script… What was NOT to like about this show?
I can’t Belueve the show go cancelled. I really hope Starz decides to bring it back. I know so many people who are very disapointed the show won’t be continuing.
So sorry that this will not go on. Is there a way to change their minds?
Why, StarZ, why? Best show on the t.v. machine in ages, and now it’s gone in the Mists of Avalon…bloody hell!!!!
All agreed with Mister james. I don’t watch many shows, nor television usually, but Camelot was the kind of serie that doesn’t fit with the others, I could say like Highlander, Code Quantum, some tv shows that just take you to another place, make you believe you’re in, and give you good feelings when the new episode arrives. I’d love to sign a petition, learn that some producers bought it, or another tv channel, whatever, but this show can’t end so quickly. I don’t know how Camelot has been received on other channels, but I know it’s still playing on… Read more »
I am soo soo upset that they are not having season 2. We are left hanging on the season finally and now we may never know what happens. It is such a shame when this was such a good progam and could not wait for Friday to come. I think you people should work around the situation that you are in to make a season 2 to have closure of the movie. And not let us fans hang. The actors are so perfect in this series, its going to be a shame if the story is never told.
I also am very disappointed in Starz!
I’m truly truly sad. Mere words can’t express how much I will miss the magnificent rack of Eva Green.
I found that I really liked this interpretation of the legend of King Arthur, it had a touch of relism in the way it handled particular parts of the myth, ie: the lady of the lake. although this provided for a darker side of merlin it also brought into perspective his frailities and weakness’s of the character never seen before, “bravo Mr Fiennes”. again it was great to see that series has been given the adult treatment without making it sordid and gratuitous. Many of the actors gave their characters substance and meaning in the storyline even though some had… Read more »
