Starz has decided to cancel their Camelot TV series after one season. While the ratings weren’t bad for the Arthurian show, the numbers aren’t necessarily the whole reason why there won’t be a second season.
Camelot, as you might have guessed, is based on the legend of King Arthur. The series stars Jamie Campbell Bower as a young King Arthur, with Joseph Fiennes as Merlin, Eva Green as Morgan, and Tamsin Egerton as Guinevere.
The premiere attracted 1.1 million viewers with a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That marked the cable channel’s most-watched and highest-rated original series premiere to date. Unfortunately, the second installment dropped 24% in total viewership and subsequent episodes dropped even further. Still, by the end of the season, the ratings were on an upswing. The finale nearly matching the viewership of the premiere.
While Camelot may have ordinarily ended up getting a renewal from Starz, the ratings weren’t the only factor in play.
A statement from a Starz representative notes, “Due to significant production challenges, Starz has decided not to exercise the option for subsequent seasons of Camelot with our production partners GK-tv, Octagon Films and Take 5 Productions.” Deadline reports that some of those “challenges” included scheduling conflicts with some of the actors.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Camelot has been cancelled? Would you have liked to have seen a second season?

I really enjoyed the 1st season and would have love it to continue for a few more seasons, hope at some point they reconsider \,,/
With so much junk tv out there, it was refreshing to finally have a few shows to really get into that were not slap stick reality based. I was really excitd about Camelot and where it would take us the viewers. Extremely disappointed that it was canceled. Watching it on Netflix so a bit behind in the years I suppose though but I cut the cord years ago due to lack of any real view worthy tv content for the price I was paying. Hopefully one day the trends will turn to more watch worthy sink your mind into tv.… Read more »
I totally agree with you. For my age group 17 to 30 and above this show was really great. Top topics for family’s and coworkers are different shows u watch and I’ll tell u all the ones ive ever conversated about were never reality shows. Enough of weird reality TV. Even my children from ages 7to 13 like the more midevil and historical shows. Please bring on the second season!
Who ever was in charge of canceling this show is stupid and should b fired. Starz in by far the worst movie channel their is. Finally you get one good show and you cancel it. I would of ordered stars but not now. Until you can match this series goodbye.
I’m extremely disappointed that the series did not continue…I thoroughly enjoyed the interpretation and hated to be left hanging after the first, and what I think successful, season.
Big Mistake This was one of the best versions I have ever seen
I watched the Camelot series when it originally aired on Starz. A travesty that it was not renewed. It was a great series to watch.
As usual, TV Execs have made a BAD decision to drop yet another series winner.
And since they are God (in their industry), sadly, we the people shall never see the complete series. Such is our lot in life…to be ruled by fools.
Please bring it back! Please!
Loved it Bring it back
Season 1 was awesome. I really am bummed that none of these damn companies couldn’t pick up the series and continue it. The cast is great and are even more well known and talented then they were when they filmed season 1. Reviving this series would be a solid investment and money well spent. Bring it back please!!!!
Please bring it back!
Please bring it back dang!
Love this show and so disappointed that there is not a second season. Please bring it back
So sorry…please bring it back!
