Though none of the networks have had any breakout hits this Fall season, CBS has certainly had the most success of any of the major networks. The Tiffany network hasn’t had reason to cancel any new shows while FOX, ABC, and NBC have dumped one apiece (Lone Star, My Generation, and Outlaw respectively).
CBS announced today that they are giving full season orders to their five new series; The Defenders, Hawaii Five-0, Blue Bloods, $#*! My Dad Says, and Mike & Molly. Typically a full season order means nine additional episodes but that not be the case here. Word is that $#*! My Dad Says may only get six additional installments plus three scripts. Hawaii Five-0 received an order for nine episodes plus two scripts besides.
Here’s the official press release from CBS…

What do you think? Do you think they all deserve a full season order? Do you think that any won’t survive to see a second season?

Wow I didn’t realize how many idiots there are in the world. RED consider yourself the No 1 IDIOT, BlueBloods is the most awesome show and Hawaii-5-0 is so much better than the previous one. I also enjoy The Defenders but if I had to pick between these three shows The Defenders would have to go.. Mike and Molly and the other horrible supposed comedies suck.
CBS keep up with your dramas you are really grest at picking them.
I absolutely love Hawaii Five-O. It’s the best action series on TV right now. CBS has the market on good solid TV series at this time. It is so refreshing that there is not another Reality TV show put on. Need to get rid of all of them. Keep the cool shows like Hawaii Five-O, Criminal Minds, NCIS etc………..
The Defenders is the best show on tv right now–a mixture of drama and comedy! I think it would do well on Monday nights at 9:00–it should take the spot once held by Two and A Half Men with a repeat episode on Friday night at 8:00 for those who miss it on Monday. Thank you for a tv show with creative writing that is not overly intellectual but makes one think, unpredictable story lines that havent already been done before on every other show, complex charaters, and scenes of Las Vegas!
I have never been a fan of CBS shows. I usually find the other networks have come up with more enticing suspense and or drama series. Until now. CBS has absolutely hit it out of the park with Blue Bloods (started off slow but has become one of my top five shows on t.v.), Hawaii Five-O (has held my attention since episode one), and The Defenders (Belushi and O’Connell are an unlikely duo but CBS figured out a way to make them work). Good job CBS, you finally have my attention.
Demand another season for $#*! MY DAD SAYS, witty and funny show. Blue Bloods is exhausting to watch. The stash is still cool, but the show seems to stagnate on the templar thing. Increadible how they solve murders within the day, all the time. So unrealistic. Yeah the Reagans are very fortunate, nice house, great food, policemans pay… pfff… Ditch Hawai Five Oh 2010. I am a fan of John and James Belushi but the other suite in THE DEFENDERS, the fat kid in the movie STAND BY ME, no. Sorry. The show did not impress me. Heard Mike and… Read more »
I just Love Defenders, Hawaii 5-o (so it’s a remake..The Original was awesome and this one is too!!) Blue Bloods is the highlight of my Friday Nights right after CSI NY! Finally something to watch on Fridays. Put Defenders on Fridays before CSI and the ratings will go up! Watched 10 mins of “My Dad” Not for me..Too silly Mike & Molly was OK but kind of the same ole thing with the fat jokes..The writers made them FAT instead of just PEOPLE in a relationship…NOT for me either. People between 40-70 should count in the ratings too..not many of… Read more »
I like everything except Crap my dad says (should never have been put ont he air) and Hawaii 5-0, which is a re-make. Can’t we get some new ideas?
Defenders is great, 100% goodness. Mike and Molly is a time filler, but I like both the actor and the actress. Glad they’re getting work after being stuck in the “supporting role” position for so many years.
I’m not sure how Mike and Molly is still on. I mean how many fat jokes can you say before it gets old?
Totally agree with you. I’m what you would might call over weight, and I sure dont want to watch a show with a cop (who probably gets winded trying to get off the couch) that is 350 lbs standing at 5’10” trying to get with an overweight school teacher. Have you seen the scenes where they’re in bed together? It’s repulsive!
CBS has done a great job on the new shows. I am not normally a comedy type tv person but Mike & Molly and so is $#*! My Dad Says are really great. As for drama CBS hit the nail on the head, all of them are really great programs. Thank goodness for DVR, I have so many programs that my hubby and I like that we never get bored when nothing is on, we can watch the programs we DVR’d. Keep up the good choices CBS….
I would cancel all 5, but that’s how it always goes. Keep the ones I don’t like, cancel the ones I do.
Not to question your tastes in television, but if you don’t like any of these, what do you like?
Yes very happy about all those shows. I watch them all. My favorite out of those right now is The defenders. And to think I was on the fence on that one. Then Mike & Molly, then S**t my dad says, Hawaii five-o and then Blue bloods. Their all really good I think. I’m really hopeing they all get picked up. They all get a 8 or better in my book. Right now the Defenders has a 10! Good move CBS. Keep it up.
I am surprised but I like “THE DEFENDERS” Not being a fan of Jim Belushi I did not think I would like the show. But even his character is enjoyable to watch.Good Job guys
