Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

First of all, had I known Cedar Cove was being cancelled, I would not have purchased season 3. This was a series with no violence, no vulgar language, something we weren’t afraid to watch when the grandkids were here. Leaving people without a series finale is just in very bad taste. Is the same going to be done with The Good Witch or When Calls the Heart or any other “worth watching” series on the Hallmark channel? I, for one, will be very leary of your channel from now on. Do the right thing and end Cedar Cove with the… Read more »
Please bring this show back!!
Please bring this show back!
Cedar Cove was my calgon. I cannot believe it was dropped. Of course viewers were down because of the way cable started charging so much for Hallmark. I have to wonder if the other Hallmark series is worth my time. If Hallmark will give up on a first season so quickly, what’s to stop it from hurting the faithful viewers again? At the very least, give us a final 2 hour Wedding Sunset.
Super sad. I googled Cedar Cove to see when it begins only to find out it’s cancelled?? It was really getting good!! Really going to miss it this summer…
Very sad, you owed us wrap up. Really enjoyed this series
Please don’t cancel. Was looking so forward to season 4. Bring it back. Please PLEASE.
Cedar Cover should be brought back it was a wonderful show and storyline. If it can’t be brought back permanently then it should be to tie up the story line for us viewers.
I am disappointed the show ended. Especially with so many plot lines unresolved. I could almost, and I stress, almost, handle the show ending after a final season to wrap things up. But I truly wish it would continue for some time to come. I initially was not fond of the changes between the show and the book series, but I soon came around to those changes and found a different fondness for characters that were both familiar and new at the same time.
OMG! I was left with my jaw hitting the floor, Olivia’s mouth open to answer that dreaded question and then BOOM! Show cancelled! This was a beautiful story, acting was awesome, it was clean family oriented and now it’s gone! So very sad! Way to go Hallmark! :>
Really wish they would continue with cedar cove!!!!
Absolutely sickened to hear of this cancellation! Why??? I don’t understand. Very bad decision. This was the best!
I am so disappointed that one of my new favorite show has been cancelled. Please tell me that isn’t so ? I was looking forward to season 4…
Loved this show. I hope it is picked up by another network. I looked forward to the new season.
Oh My Gosh! Hallmark!!!!!!! Don’t do this to me!!!!!!!!!! I am so incredibly sad. My heart hurts. I don’t care what happens to any other characters, but I HAVE to know what happens to Olivia and Paul? Does she run off with him? Does she stay with Jack? Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!! You’re KILLING ME SMALLS!!!!!!!!!!!
Disapointed! Great show, wonderful cast, beautiful scenery, excellent writing. Sorry to see it go.
