Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

Hello Janelle! I feel the same disappointment about this cancellation. Regarding the solution, I am hoping this great team of beautiful cast, producers and directors go to a much better network to continue their excellence and goodness. Or dare to make the MOVIE together! lol.. Seems like less people are relating to such GOODNESS and pure living. If the only real reason is the amount of viewers, then I propose Hallmark to actually continue and loose money just for the sake of gooness. Hallmark is actually choosing to show the world that they care MORE for profit than goodness. They… Read more »
This is so disappointing. I loved that series. All the characters were so in tune with each other and the town itself was wonderful. Bring Cedar Cove back!!
YES please bring back give us closure it was a great show
Very disappointed to find out that the show is canceled. Really looked forward to watching the story unfold. I agree with many others that there should at least be some closure on the story lines that are still hanging out there.
I think creating a 2 hour special to tie up the loose ends of Season 3 would be a great idea and give a pleasant closure to the Cedar Cove experience. Thanks!
I really liked the show. I’m sure some people thought it was too “goody-two-shoes”, but it was nice to escape for a bit from the everyday pressures, etc. and just watch something that was entertaining! I would love it if it was brought back!
I would love to see more of cedar cove.
Closure please!! At least close up the open story lines. SO sad to see it go.
I have really been looking forward to season 4. It’s so disappointing when a show is canceled without closure. Showing it on Netflix would be great. It is so hard to find TV shows that do not contain sex and cursing.
I like the show. I hope that the hallmark channel reconsiders cancelling it.
I am so disappointed. I love this show and the characters. Please give us at least a closure .you could at least put it in one of the tired Golden Girls. I live in Arizona and Hallmark Channel quits programing and goes to the Golden Girls. Why not give us something else to look at. Very disappointed.
How can this be? I want to see Paul and Olivia together…or at least that’s my hope. Not very cool move to cancel with so many unanswered cliff hangers…come on bring it back at for a couple of episodes. Jack is not m6 fav character in the show.
I can’t believe it’s been cancelled. I’ve been looking forward to it all season. This was the BEST show there is. It’s LOVING, KIND and has FAMILY VALUES. There’s no show like it. The way the world is now, it was a refreshing show to watch. I’m devastated, PLEASE bring it back!
I love Cedar Cove. Was thrilled when season 3 was on Netflix . Maybe Netflix can do a Netflix only deal for Cedar Cove. There has to be more!!
I think they should give us a movie in order to tie up the loose ends!
I am so disappointed there won’t be a season 4. Please at least have some sort of special show to wrap up the loose ends!
