Could Mr. Robot help new USA series Colony? In an interview with Forbes, stars of the new sci-fi series Josh Holloway and Sarah Wayne Callies spoke about the influence of USA’s breakout hit on their upcoming show.
Colony premieres on January 14th.
Created by Carlton Cuse and Ryan J. Condal, Colony takes place in a near-future Los Angeles that’s been occupied by heavily armed extraterrestrial forces. Holloway and Callies play a couple torn apart after their son is taken by the “Hosts.”
Speaking to Forbes, Callies said the success of Mr. Robot could lead to a larger audience for both Colony and USA Network as a whole:
I think what we’ve got is far more latitude and opportunity for an audience to go, “Yeah, sure. USA produces tremendous programs.” USA has been kicking ass for a super long time, but I think with Mr. Robot, all of a sudden people sat up and took a very close look at the originality and the power and the courage of the storytelling. I think that opens doors for us.”
Additionally, Holloway said Colony and Mr. Robot are part of USA’s re-visioning as a network committed to artistic storytelling:
They are hungry for strong content, for real storytelling, for really great art. They are open. USA is open. Legendary is open. They are in it, and I feel like they are in it with us, like, “Yeah! Let’s go.” I don’t feel pressure from that. I’m like, “Get in the car! Let’s go!” I like it. I like that comradery I feel in that and, like, more permission to keep going kinda thing.”
The pilot for Colony is available online and On Demand right now.

What do you think? Do you watch Mr. Robot? Will you tune in for the premiere of Colony?
I like Mr Robot a lot, but I LOVE Colony! However I watch everything on Netflix so I may not be very helpful regarding the Ratings. But they are both GREAT shows!
I love Mr. Robot and look forward to the next season. Colony looks like it may be really good, as well.
