Chevy Chase is gone and Community creator Dan Harmon is back. Will some of the viewers return as well? Will the show be renewed for a sixth season (and a movie) or will it be cancelled instead? We shall see.
Community follows a suspended lawyer (Joel McHale) and other students at the Greendale Community College in Colorado. The rest of the cast includes Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Yvette Nicole Brown, Alison Brie, Donald Glover, Ken Jeong, Jim Rash, Jonathan Banks, and John Oliver.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/9 update: Community has been cancelled by NBC after five seasons.
6/30 update: Yahoo has revived this sitcom for a sixth season.
Final season averages: 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.00 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here.
For comparisons: The fourth season of Community averaged a 1.2 rating in the demo and 2.90 million viewers.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Community TV series? Would you like to see it cancelled or renewed for a sixth season?
I felt like this season had its ups and downs, but the season finale was friggin fantastic. I have watched it over and over. We need #sixseasonsandamovie or at least six seasons. 🙂 I think Donald Glover could always come back for an episode or two at least. The other characters are still strong. I just think it didn’t refind its groove until the end. The writers had to write out two characters in only 13 episodes. That took away from the funny, but they couldn’t help it. Next season will be great!
Enjoyed season 5 and hoping for a season 6 ( and a movie ).
*I am involved with a hang gliding community and laughed out loud during the final episode of season 5.
Please continue to make me laugh!
Thank you!
I think this season is better than season 4, but lacks the constant humor that was apparent during seasons 1, 2, and somewhat season 3. They’re trying too hard to “keep the cast grounded”. After watching four seasons of Community, we know the show isn’t going to be about your typical community college, so make it as theatrical, outrageous, and exciting as you can. The Big Bang Theory gets their ratings from their one liners not their concept episodes, Chevy and Donald were always great at those. That opportunity isn’t lost because they’re gone. This entire season was concepts, which… Read more »
It’s just not funny any more. Last season was a struggle, but this one is worse – and that has nothing to do with Chevy Chase being absent; Glover will be a bigger miss.
The writers seem to have abandoned any attempt at direct humor, barring a few sad attempts at farce, and EVERYTHING now has to be quirky or surreal, but the joy of the first few seasons is missing and it all seems strained.
I think I’ll quit now to save the good memories I still have of the show.
Why did they need to add new cast members? With Chevy gone, there are still eight cast members, which is more than enough. They haven’t developed Chang or really the others enough already. More isn’t better.
¡Community es muy bueno! #sixseasonsandamovie

I could care less about Chevy Chase. Dan Harmon is back and that is what really matters.
I won’t watch without Chevy Chase.
