Copper has been cancelled but Sunday’s series finale may not be the end for the characters. Deadline reports that executive producers Barry Levinson, Tom Kelly and Tom Fontana (also the co-creator) are considering a movie version.
Fontana has apparently worked out an extensive story arc for season three and may rework that into a movie script. It would supposedly look at life in America following Lincoln’s assasination and the Reconstruction years that followed.
Will Rokos and Fontana created Copper which premiered in August 2012 to 1.1 million viewers. That was a record-setting audience for BBC America and the period drama was renewed in October. Unfortunately, the numbers weren’t as strong in season two so the show was cancelled.
What do you think? Would you like to see a Copper movie? Do you think it will actually happen?
The second season finale was definitely a cliffhanger and not a series finale. Sad. It was an awesome show. I’d love to see it brought back or a movie.
I just finished watching season 1 and 2 and am very disappointed that the show was cancelled. I thought it was a very interesting series. Well written and great actors. I would be in favor of a movie that would tie up the loose ends they left at the end of season 2.
I would love to see a movie wrap up! The end of the second season left me hanging.
Recently discovered this show on NETFLIX, which is my second favorite show, Hell on Wheels being the first. I saw today that the show was cancelled in 2013, man, what an unpopular decision, Copper is a great show, that shows the corruption and greed that shaped five-points. Oh well, guess I will have to find another great show to watch, I have not watched “Sons of Anarchy” so that will be my first choice and Mr. Robot will be my second. If you liked Copper, check out Hell on Wheels, as it is similar.
Wendy…I, also, found this show on Netflix..thank God!
Damn shame we’re forced to watch the total brainless crap that’s on TV…that’s why I have Netflix and choose movies over TV programming.
There are a few shows doing well like Ray Donovan and Criminal Minds, to name 2, but not much out there. Sad!
I agree the these comments….bring it back.
I guess intelligent programs, well written, directed and acted just aren’t pleasing the rating God’s!
Crap shows like BigBrother and the 200+ Wife’s of Wherever..continue filling our brains with sticky mush…and we want this???
It appears the general viewing audience enjoyed, watched and appreciated a period piece with great story lines, educating average Joe whilst entertaining at the same time. Amazing…we’re told by the powers that be…”no…sorry…no decent programs for you America..Reality. Reality. Reality…that’s where its at.” Oh really??????
Bring it back, i loved the show.
BRING IT BACK CAN’T WAIT TO SEE WHAT HAPPENWITH AVA AND COPPER.
BRING IT BACK WE ALL WANT TO SEE THE ENDING.
BRING IT BACK BRING IT BACK … I EVEN WENT AND BOUGHT THE SERIES SEASON 1 AND 2 DVD SETS. LOVE THIS SHOW.. IT WAS ALL LEFT AS A CLIFFHANGER THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE. BRING IT BACK BRING IT BACK….
BRING IT BACK BRING IT BACK. LOVE THE SHOW.
This show was great!
I don’t understand why some shows are cancelled while others that are pure crap, make it.
Go figure…
I absolutely loved this show and can’t for the life of me understand why it was cancelled! what is wrong with you people!! yet, you keep drivel like two broke girls on the air!!! get your priorities straightened out. This was smart, historical and entertaining!! You need to bring this TV program back on the air and if not on PBS, somewhere else!!
