The cast of White Collar got a chance to wrap up their series with a final short season but Covert Affairs won’t get that chance. USA Network has cancelled the series after five seasons, leaving fans with plenty of questions and no season six.
On Covert Affairs, operatives Annie Walker (Piper Perabo) and Auggie Anderson (Chris Gorham) work together in the CIA’s Domestic Protection Division (DPD). The show’s cast also includes Kari Matchett, Peter Gallagher, Hill Harper, and Nicholas Bishop.
The move to abruptly cancel the adventure spy series comes as a bit of a surprise but the decision reportedly all came down to money. USA owns the show but it’s not a cheap show to produce with rising talent fees and expensive location filming around the world.
In addition, the fifth season of Covert Affairs saw a big drop in the ratings — falling nearly 48% in the 18-49 demographic when compared to season four. Total viewership dropped 32%, to 1.54 million.
The final episode aired December 18th. Hopefully the producers will share what Annie’s decisions about her personal and professional life would have been.
What do you think? Do you like the Covert Affairs TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a sixth season instead?
I reallly liked the show cover Affairs. and I would like to see the series continue to air on the USA Network. Please give the show another chance!
I loved this show, it was edgy and so much to watch. Some of the shows that are great are not renewed and they don’t end properly. You invest your time and never know the outcome of the show. The endings are unknown which are frustrating because you are invested in the characters and you have this loss of what happens, I was very disappointed.
usa like most cable networks don’t to many good shows as it is. To only make cheap stupid shows doesn’t leave much to the viewer: dumb move usa . only show I watched on it anyway
No, it should have at least had an opportunity to wrap it up….like what was done with Parenthood.
Wow, I did not see that coming. Covert Affairs was a good show I watched it from the beginning to the end all seasons. The way Annie carried herself was truly amazing to watch and Auggie was cool and great at what he did as well. I do wish it would have wrapped up better from a viewers point of view, but I do understand that it is and always is about ratings and money.
I am so disappointed. This was a good show. At least give us (the fans) a final “wrap up” for the characters. White Collar did it. Mentalist (other network) did it. How about showing the fans the respect and appreciation for their loyal viewership by providing closure for them.
OMG !!!!! I can’t believe this. I love that show.
Covert Affairs is one of the shows that I couldn’t wait for the next episode it was one of my favorites I just can’t believe that they would cancel it with it being open ended like that. If it’s all about the money then try to sell it to a bigger network like fox abc nbc and maybe they can give us as fans a conclusion.
At last give us a final episode with closure…..this is an excellent series and a fantastic cast. There are so many “crappy” series being thrown together and deserve to be cancelled, but when you have a good one, pay attention to the followers and wind it down to a final season finale, don’t just drop it. Revenge was popular and they managed to give the viewers a finale ending before cancellation.
Very Disappointed to hear “Covert Affairs” won’t have a season six!!!!!!!!!!! Bring it back!!!
Bring it back! Give us closure!
I love the show; bring it back.
Bring BAck Covert AFFAIRS!!!! It Was Very Entertaining & Exciting! The Chemistry Between The Characters Was Spot On!!! I Will Miss The Show!!!!! It Was A Good Spy Show! You Went Around The World, & You Didn’t Have To! You Put On A Excellent Show,It Will Be Missed! Kelly, California
I stopped watching midway through the last season. It was just getting too dark and violent. Didn’t seem like a USA Network show anymore.
Seriously?! WTF!! Once again, the greed of a network trumps a fan favorite….
Covert Affairs had relevant current story lines, great action, and a superb cast with some decent acting, and some spectacular scenery in parts of the world most of us will never see in our lifetimes.
But cancelling it makes perfect sense to a channel that puts their money behind the WWF!
Reminds me of Judging Amy, when the season ended with a rather major cliffhanger (as many season finales do), but later getting cancelled.
As with Judging Amy, there might be talk of a TV movie for Covert Affairs which will wrap up not only the cliffhanger, but also show as that the characters will live happily ever after.
I always enjoyed Covert Affairs and will miss it.
