The cast of White Collar got a chance to wrap up their series with a final short season but Covert Affairs won’t get that chance. USA Network has cancelled the series after five seasons, leaving fans with plenty of questions and no season six.
On Covert Affairs, operatives Annie Walker (Piper Perabo) and Auggie Anderson (Chris Gorham) work together in the CIA’s Domestic Protection Division (DPD). The show’s cast also includes Kari Matchett, Peter Gallagher, Hill Harper, and Nicholas Bishop.
The move to abruptly cancel the adventure spy series comes as a bit of a surprise but the decision reportedly all came down to money. USA owns the show but it’s not a cheap show to produce with rising talent fees and expensive location filming around the world.
In addition, the fifth season of Covert Affairs saw a big drop in the ratings — falling nearly 48% in the 18-49 demographic when compared to season four. Total viewership dropped 32%, to 1.54 million.
The final episode aired December 18th. Hopefully the producers will share what Annie’s decisions about her personal and professional life would have been.
What do you think? Do you like the Covert Affairs TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a sixth season instead?
I started this show on Amazon after it ended. Loved it and bought the DVDs. They do need to assess viewing methods differently to keep from ending great shows too soon.
They owe the public at least a couple of episodes to a finale.
I am very disappointed and surprised that Covert Affairs will not return for a final season.
It is an intelligent show filled with action and interesting characters.
Drop in number of viewers may be related to uncertainty about when the shop would be
on. After several changes, being on again then off again, viewers loose the show.
Very disappointed in Tampa,

I really liked this series!!! To cancell a show just because we don’t get to watch it when the network thinks we should is so stupid… and insults all of the viewers. When your network has to fold because of lack of interest by us viewers you have only yourselves to blame.
How disappointing!!! Networks shouldn’t base a show on ratings when aired anymore. The timing of the “drops in ratings” coincide with people moving away from cable to streaming and using the dvr. I don’t know about anyone else…but there are certain shows I like to watch when I am not distracted…be it work or most of all kids. You want to watch your fave show when it’s quiet and kids are in bed, and everythings done. How sad. I hated the non-ending they left us with. This show was great despite any numbers. BRING IT BACK PEOPLE!!!!
I just hate that you have cancelled Covert Affairs with unresolved issues. A great show I never missed but did use my DVR so I could watch it on demand!
I agree with prior writers-I DVR this show and watch at my convenience. In fact that’s how I watch all of my shows. I am extremely disappointed.
Please bring back Covert Affairs. We loved it.
This was my favorite show. I can’t begin to tell you how disappointed I am that it will not return. Bad decision on your part!
Selling “Covert Affairs” to Netflix is a great idea. There’s still money to be made with this show and great entertainment for us regular people, some of whom work midnights…
The show is super AWESOME was lukn forward for a next season which is 6 n found it cancelled i am totally disappointed…do smtn pliiizz like make the last season to be tht season 6 to wrap up everytn!! Plz
Covert Affairs needs to have a a short season just like White Collar, either that or sell it to Netflix and see if they will continue the show. It is such a good show, it shouldn’t be cancelled!
Best darn show on TV. I agree with prior writer-I DVR this show and watch at my convenience. But I never miss it. First Burn Notice and now this show. I am very disappointed at USA Network
Some shows run their course and should be cancelled but Covert Affairs is NOT one of them. Most eveyone I know or ask, choose to DVR their favorite shows to watch at their convenience. It’s sad that networks don’t count the millions of us who love the shows they seem to think no one watches.
I think USA should at least run a season finale episode or make a “Covert Affairs” movie to end the series and not leave fans hanging. I loved the show and was an avid viewer. Up until now, I have been looking for when Season 6 would premier. I am very disappointed to learn there will be no season six. At least run a short series to wrap up the show. Not to do so is unfair to the faithful fans. USA at least did that much with Burn Notice. As disappointed as I was that the series ended, at… Read more »
Personally I liked the first few years of the show, but for whatever reason they got rid of Eyal Lavin. They had chemistry and it was obvious how Eyal felt about Annie. It was fun to watch when they got together. Rather then have a combination that sizzled the writers went with the Auggie relationship and the Ryan thing. Both of those fizzled IMHO. That ruined the show for me, and I didn’t bother with it after that.
I agree! The Annie/Augie relationship was very awkward, like she went back to high school, and the Ryan/Annie relationship was inert. Eyal and Annie though were VERY fun!
Concur… The Annie/Augie relationship had to end and never should have begun but it was a depiction of real world work relationships which usually end badly…
I love this show! I never missed an episode but, like EVERY SHOW that I watch, I record it and watch it when it’s convieient for me. I think most people do this so it’s entirely inaccurate for networks to cry low ratings. With the advent of DVR’s, Netflix, OnDemand, etc., the networks need to come up with a new and more accurate way to count viewership. To cancel a great show just because I don’t watch it when the networks want me to is insulting. And too, a significant portion of the adult TV watching population works the midnight… Read more »
