The ratings for Covert Affairs have been dropping each season for awhile. Will they keep falling this year? Will they drop so low that the USA series is cancelled or, will it be renewed for a sixth season? Stay tuned!
On Covert Affairs, operatives Annie Walker (Piper Perabo) and Auggie Anderson (Chris Gorham) work together in the CIA’s Domestic Protection Division (DPD). The show’s cast also includes Kari Matchett, Peter Gallagher, Hill Harper, and Nicholas Bishop.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
UPDATE: USA has decided to cancel Covert Affairs after five seasons.
Final season averages: 0.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.54 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Reference point: Season four of Covert Affairs averaged a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.27 million total viewers.
Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Covert Affairs TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for season six?
I am so mad at the writers for this show. First of all last season, they made a lot of mistakes and I had friends who gave up on the show. Even my Mom gave up on it after a few episodes, so I was hoping the writers had learned the lesson and would fix it. While this season is better than last year, I miss the show it used to be a few years ago when it first started. I don’t understand why these writers need to do such long story arcs. And if you want to do a… Read more »
And with all that said, I hope USA at least gives it a final season so that the writers can fix it so that it at least ends with some great ratings or maybe it will get such great ratings that it will be around a few more years!
I agree on the story arc ideas. right now, you can tune in to episodes one through four for the set up and then wait until 14 to catch up and finish the season. no need to watch 5 through 13 because nothing is going to happen that will spoil the “BIG” “must see TV” season finale where it all comes together in a series of shazaam matlock moments. I have tuned in for a few episodes this year and seem to get distracted and don’t really pay attention like I used to and I am not DVRing like I… Read more »
Season 4 was brilliant. This season has started slowly but the latest episode was a lot better. Annie has become a female James Bond complete with psychological issues. For the show to really work you have to like Annie, but as she becomes more surly and bossy that becomes more difficult.
I have watched Covert Affairs from day one. I love the show and look forward to Tuesdays. However this season Annie is so serious and if you miss one Tuesday nite you are out of luck. Last year the episodes were very intense and had me on the edge of my seat every Tuesday. This year every episode has a new person here this week gone next week, and there is a new problem. I would like to see more cohesiveness, fewer new actors, and more intense plots.
I agree with Vicky. I miss Annie who had a sense of humor, who was fighting for higher values, but was albo friendly. Now she behaves like a boss. Maybe because of her heart condition she became so serious, maybe because she became like more professional? But I miss this Annie who was fighting with Henry Wilcox, but stayed so firendly and energetic at the same time. Langley seems so abandoned these days.
Love this show
Love the show and want to see another season to see if it can get back on track. Perhaps a change of nights would make a difference.
This used to be a great show ! Each episode had a beginning and an ending. Now it is a very confusing soap opera that is very hard to follow and I’ve lost interest. Go back to “old school” ways and add back the comedy and action mixture we all loved ! This new plot sucks and if is impossible to follow (which makes us not even wanting to watch a full episode !!! Hurry before it is too late !!! And the main workers of the CIA have changed jobs or have been fired so many times (it is… Read more »
“We”, “us” – who do you mean? I’m still watching full episodes… The serial evolved, characters evolved too. I do not enjoy all the changes, but I still like the serial. I just hope the action and relations will go in better directions.
Speaking of bringing back the old school, I want them to bring back the opening theme music. Loved that song!!
I love love love this show! USA has been cancelling too much lately, please keep this one going. I really enjoy Eyal’s appearances and I think he adds a lot to the dynamtic for Annie. I am not sure McQuaid will bring the same humanity to Annie that Eyal does but I think that’s what the writers are trying for and I hope they are sucessful. I so don’t want not to lose another one of my favorite shows.
I totally agree 🙂
I loved the first three seasons, the fourth season was good as well however, this current season is loosing me. Annie has become this dark emotionless robot. Auggie sleeps with anything that moves. Calder has fallen for some high priced call girl. Arthur has simply become irrelevant. The addition of the Mcquaid is ok,…I guess. Not too impressed with this season at all. I will continue to watch but I don’t think it will be renewed for a sixth season, unless the writers can pull a rabbit out their hats for the last nine episodes.
We love Covert Affairs and definitely do not want to see it cancelled. Perhaps changing the show date to Wednesdays would boost the ratings. Monday and Tuesday are “heavy days” for the shows we watch.
I think Piper is doing an absolutely fantastic job as exec producer. I think this season rocks! I was thinking after they killed Henry, how on earth would they top that? I think they did! Joan’s wardrobe is terrific this year, kudos to Piper. In the 1st and 2nd seasons her wardrobe was just awful, bland and now she looks like a real person. I do agree with the too much sex comments; they need to tone it down. I totally love the addition of McQuaid’s character. Glad Peter G. Is still on, he’s a worthy cast member. Keep these… Read more »
Action is getting better in episode 7th, I hope the ratings will change soon…
I have been an excited faithful viewer of Covert Affairs from the very 1st episode but, recently I find myself becoming a bit critical of the show that I used to love! I really wish the show would go back to focusing a lot more on the spy/intrigue aspect of the show and a lot less on all of the gratuitous sex going on. Romance is fine -even good – but all of the bed-hopping adds nothing to the story line & borders on soft porn. Enough already! I truly hope this show can regain it’s bareings and go back… Read more »
In case you missed it, this is the new direction USA seems to want to go. Darker with more, irrelivent to the story, sex. And quite frankly, I am tuning in less and less. I miss the goofy humor that their shows used to have. You can have drama with a sense of humor. Their characters just don’t seem to have much heart any more. I used to love Annie, but I am finding her harder and harder to relate to.
ABSOLUTELY STAY FOREVER.
I WOULD LIKE TO SEE REALITY
US SITUATIONS AS IN REAL CIA NOW.
BUT I WANT TWO ADDITIONS
..THE US CONSTOTUTION IS SIGNED IN
THE LORD…CHURCH SCENES.REMEMBER
GEO. WASHINGTON KNEELING?…CAN’T DO
IT WITHOUT THE LORD (JESUS).THAT IS
FIRST WHAT MADE…MAKES GREAT US NATIPN.
these ratings say shark bait in big neon letters
I still watch, but I’m becoming less invested in it! The Auggie and Annie storyline is just wrong! They were perfect as a couple…I can’t even remember why they aren’t together! But, by being just friends with Annie, and talking to her about all these other women, Auggie is beginning to come off like a jerk! This devastates me…he has always been my favorite character! I really hope they start being truer to the original personalities they created! I would hate to see this show cancelled!
I wish they had never gotten together in the first place. why do the two leads always have to hook up? and because the did so early in the show, they have to break up to create other story lines. I liked the first season where Annie was on missions that took place over one or two episodes and Augie was her handler giving her advice and wisdom. the experienced spec op who could not longer operate in the field, laying some schooling on the newbie. Now its out of control Annie and sleep around Augie. and season long story… Read more »
Though I’m neutral on them being together, since they’ve already been a couple, I also don’t like seeing the lead roles being paired in love trysts that seldom work out. And even if they work out, once the lovey dovey stuff begins, most of the action and intrigue ends…..that is unless you’re tuning in to see the action I the bedroom.
because a portion of the audience wanted them to hook up, it was written into the script early but they had no ratings bump. why?cause jump the shark website has told us years ago that “they do it” is a major jump the shark moment in a tv show. the spy show people tuned out cause they now think it will be annie/augie bedroom affairs. so they broke them up trying to get back to the spy stuff, but they also want sex so therefore Augie and Annie now have to sleep around and the result is nobody cares because… Read more »
