While we still don’t know the fate of the origiinal CSI series yet, we do know that one of the franchise’s shows will be on the schedule next season. CBS has renewed newbie CSI: Cyber for a second season.
On CSI: Cyber, Special Agent Avery Ryan (Patricia Arquette) heads the Cyber Crime Division of the FBI. It’s a unit at the forefront of solving illegal activities that start in the mind, live online, and play out in the real world. This crime drama also features the talents of James Van Der Beek, Hayley Kiyoko, Charley Koontz, Shad Moss, and Peter MacNicol.
?Airing on Wednesday nights, CSI: Cyber has been averaging a 1.44 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 8.31 million viewers. Those aren’t stellar numbers but they’re apparently good enough for a CSI series to score a renewal (Stalker, which had a slightly better demo, has been cancelled). It likely doesn’t hurt that next season will be the original CSI’s final bow and the network wants to keep the franchise going.
What do you think? Do you like the new CSI: Cyber series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed? Did you like Stalker better?
I love CSI: Cyber !! I’m so glad it is returning for a second season ! It is current, hip and interesting all wrapped up in one suspenseful episode after another ! I love all the characters and if the tv viewing audience would just give the producers a little more time to develop the current characters…..I predict this show will become one of the most popular prime time viewing suspense-drama shows out there. I love Patricia Arquette and her acting abilities. As one of the top dogs in her department, she needs to be bold, direct and decisive to… Read more »
Patricia Arquette is one of the worst actresses on air so maybe the rest of the staff should stay and get rid of her.
They should also get rid of Criminal Minds because they are running out of storie lines along with the series is starting to show its age.
CSI will have a two hour series finale next September, so you got your wish.
Criminal Minds is not running out of story lines! They are changing the characters to often. It’s a great show, and I’m glad it is staying on.
I am glad that they didn’t cancel this show when they have canclled some really good shows. I really like Patricia Arquette.
CBS= Can Be Stupid! They cancelled stalker which they setup to fail by not airing it for six weeks then change the day and time for the next and looks like final 3 episodes, do not advertise or show any previews for viewers to be made aware of the changes and then claim that viewers 18-49 demographics were low ? That group can’t be that stupid as portrayed in watching some of the other garbage that CBS puts out and call hits if the season and renews. I hope that sone other network or even Netflix picks the series up… Read more »
I completely agree!! Well said
I also agree,
The lack of any acting ability by the main stars had me turn this show off and vow never to watch it again.
I actually like the CSI:Cyber, and I am glad it made it to a second season. I don’t see why people think Patricia Arquette is such a bad Avery!! She has to be serious and maybe her character is meant to be a bit on the b*tchy side. She does have criminal hackers she has to keep in line. I’m glad CBS kept this show. But, I’m equally disappointed that Stalker was cancelled. Both of these shows represent what life is like these days. It seems that TV wants to ignore the reality of life, and put on reality TV… Read more »
I can’t believe CBS chose to renew this show and cancelled Stalker! Stalker was a MUCH better show. It had better actors and better stories. After all the networks killed so many good shows this week in favor of shows that couldn’t even dream of being as good, I’m really getting fed up with television on the whole. What’s the purpose of really loving a show anymore? It’s just going to get cancelled. The good always goes and the bad always sticks around and this renewal is perfect proof of that.
Too much techno-babble in this one, and the original, though once great, has been around long enough.
The original CSI hasn’t been good in years and was past due to be cancelled. While CSI: Cyber has it’s flaws, most shows do to begin with. It usually takes a while for the writers to develop the characters and storylines, and for the actors to really get into the roles, so I expect it to improve during season 2. I think it’s an okay show anyway, and definitely one that deserves a second season. The characters are interesting, and I’d like to see more backstory to them. Patricia Arquette is the one actor who seems to be lacking, but… Read more »
Love CSI and like CSI Cyber. Would like to remain. I absolutely LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Stalker! Can’t believe it’s been cancelled. Give Stalker another shot, CBS. I don’t care when you put it on, I will record it if on at a time I can’t watch. And keep both CSI’s!
I can’t believe just how stupid CBS can be. I tried to watch CSI Cyber but it just didn’t keep me interested. They put CSI Cyber on half way through the season and gave Stackers time spot to this series and then cancels Stacker because they said it got low ratings. They couldn’t have looked into it very much. They gave the time spot to everyone for almost two months and then blame Stacker with low ratings for its failure. Just go to the comments the loyal watchers of The Stacker series, they would have seen the public liked it.… Read more »
I LOVE THIS SHOW! SO GLAD IT IS RENEWED!
I love both CSI’s and I wish the other two were still on the air.
I really, really want to like this new show. However, I haven’t been able to warm up to the Avery Ryan character. I find Patricia Arquette’s portrayal of her to be wooden and flat. The supporting cast is far more interesting and the actors display a better range of emotion.
My thoughts exactly!
I agree
Would have rather seen CSI continue or put an end to the franchise. Cyber is no where as good as the others.
