We’ve received several emails from readers who love CSI: NY and are worried that it’s been cancelled. Will the show ever return? The simple answer is, “Yes, it’s on hiatus until March 30th.” But, while the TV series hasn’t been canned yet, Gary Sinise and company could certainly be in their final season.
It’s no secret that the ratings have declined over the years and that’s probably one of the reasons that CBS moved it to a Friday night timeslot. It still brings in a respectable 10 million viewers each week but is one of the network’s worst performer in the prized 18-49 demographic, even when you adjust for the Friday timeslot. Year-to-year, the show is also down by 7% in the demo.
At the recent TCA press tour, CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler noted that, though she loves the CSI shows, “Nothing runs forever. How you handle it, the most important thing is how you respect your audience, how you respect your cast, and being incredibly sensitive to how you wrap up any show when it ends a successful run. But we are in those talking stages now (about how to end the CSIs).”
It’s unlikely that CBS will end all three CSI series this year but they could certainly drop one or two of them. Based on the ratings, the New York version would be first in line to be cancelled.
What do you think? Is this the last season of CSI: NY? Should the series be cancelled or renewed for one more season?

Bring it back. Great show.
Renew for another year……
Why not put CSI NY on instead of Charlie Rose and his merry band of syncophants in the morning. That would improve the ratings. CBS surely ruined their morning news- might as well shoot themselves on Friday night too.
The show needs to continue. There are very few shows that are worthwhile watching. My husband and I watch it every Friday.
Would rather have CSI than Undercover Boss.
I would really hate to see CSI New York go off the air especially on Friday night as it is one of the shows that really give me lift after a hard week of work. Gary Senise has been one of my favorite actors. I was really upset when Melina Kanakaredes left the show as I loved her in this show and Providence. I sincerely hope you re-think cancelling the show, however, I know that actors are like any other people and want to move and do something else. Whatever you decide thank you for the enjoyment you have given… Read more »
The csi shows are 95 percent of my shows I watch without them definitely my tv watching will come to a halt.
CSI Miami should go. It sucks!
Keep all 3 csi’s they are all great.
definitely keep this one – and the other two, also. my wife and I really look forward to these programs.
Don’t cancel CSI NY change time slot to Monday 10:00 get rid of 5O
CSI NY is my favorite of all the CSI series. Hopefully it will last
Shame on CBS for thinking of cancelling CSI New York. Have you seen CSI Miami lately? It sucks and has some of the worst acting I’ve ever seen! At least with New York it’s carried by a cast like Gary Sinise and Sela Ward. I realize that shows do not last forever but if you move it from it’s Friday night time slot it would get better.
I was in shock , I love this program and look forward to watching it no matter what night it comes on . I was all set to watch tonight when I realized it was not coming on I didn’t realize last week was the last show I am sure glad that I recorded it so that I can watch it again. I will be very dissappointed if the show is cancelled , what will replace it another
Realaity Show OH BOY!!! YUK
By far this is the best of the three. Vegas and Miami need to go first. I haven’t been able to watch an entire episode of either of them in years. Turned Vegas off last night because the story was boring. Take them all if you cancel NY.
