This will be the first full season of Dallas without Larry Hagman’s JR Ewing. Can the cast and producers continue to draw viewers and solid ratings without their quintessential bad guy? Will the new Dallas be cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Stay tuned to find out.
Airing on Monday nights, Dallas continues to follow the machinations of the dysfunctional and powerful Ewing clan. The cast includes Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe, Jordana Brewster, Julie Gonzalo, Brenda Strong, Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray, Mitch Pileggi, Emma Bell, Kuno Becker, and Juan Pablo Di Pace.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
Final season averages: 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.92 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Reference point: The second season of the new Dallas averaged a 0.8 demo rating and 2.67 million viewers.
Cable ratings are typically released within a day or so of the show’s airing, except for in the case of weekends and holidays. They are sometimes harder to come by so there may be occasional delays or gaps.
What do you think? Do you still like the Dallas series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a fourth season?
Update: TNT has cancelled Dallas after three seasons. Details here.
Could it be that all the new TV technical abilities (i.e added channels, HiDef, pay tv etc) that advertising has pushed and implemented has made TV sour? It seems that no show can last very long. Most get cancelled after one season (a very short season). Could advertising be creating TV’s demise by over-doing it. Over saturating with these watered down cheaper shows? A great show hasn’t a chance anymore. Dallas was a great show.
I’m starting to worry for TV. So many things adverse to the way it used to be when Dallas was the top show. Now you have Netflix,Hulu etc, Commercials fast forwarding, High cost of cable or dish, many more channels, really bad economy, Pay TV vs commercial TV etc etc. Makes you want for the old days huh? You could watch a zillion Gunsmokes, Twilight Zones etc and…you could watch DALLAS! Makes you think ,huh?
I see many reports of TV viewing being down from past seasons. It’s no wonder when all that’s on is…well just look and see. Nothing to get excited about, huh?
If they keep cancelling great shows like Dallas, pretty soon it’s going to be reruns that top the viewing over new offerings. I think the problem is worsening by the shorter seasons and way too many ads. It’s come to this folks. Sad.
Gee what happened to TV? There’s nothing on good anymore. I wish Dallas was still on. That was my favorite show. It was really too good to cancel. But it appears TV is going downhill fast.
TV ratings are done so badly. The shows that nobody ever watches are never scrutinized as much as popular shows. Just look at what’s on TV now and my point is proven. Dallas was the very best show and it got cancelled when it was so very popular.
Can we have Dallas back? What’s the problem here? Is this show too good or something? It would make all the other shows look bad maybe? They already are bad. Please bring back Dallas.
It would make the headlines if Dallas were to return. No other show would or could be in the spotlight like Dallas would. That’s because it’s such a great show. Everyone knows that. So let’s get moving networks.
Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune,The Stupid Theory, etc is just not cutting it. TV can and should do better than this, It’d be one thing if these were daytime shows. But gadzooks… they’re the night time premium shows broadcast with no apologies. And they cancelled Dallas? What the…
TV would be worth watching again if Dallas could return. A show like this would fill the needs of TV viewers because there isn’t anything on worth watching. We need a great show like Dallas. I hope it returns.
I remember Dallas. There are great thoughts there. I wish it were back on TV. There’s nothing like it on now. That’s sad.
This short amount of showings for TV series, in the neighborhood of 12-13 shows per season, is awful. It really shows no confidence by the advertisers. Advertisers (+Network), who cancelled Dallas, couldn’t pack enough commercials in it. It really shows the greed. It’s no wonder TV is becoming so less than before.
If you don’t believe that TV’s path down the toilet is real, then just look at the Emmy ratings this year. Need I say more? Dallas would sweep this award show. Please bring back Dallas.
I used to look forward to seeing Dallas every week. It’s so sad that it’s not on. The other shows that are still on aren’t as good. Bring back Dallas.
The drought in watchable TV could be helped a bunch if Dallas returned.
Dallas is still the king of all TV series. You can’t keep a show this good down for long. I wish the networks would realize this.
