While Dante would say, “Abandon hope, all ye who enter here,” we’re not, but that’s just because nobody talks like that, anymore. USA Network has cancelled its Damnation TV show after just one season of 10 episodes. That means the season one finale, episode 1.10, “God’s Body,” which aired on January 18th, will now serve as the unintentional Damnation TV series finale.
A USA Network 1930s period drama, Damnation stars Killian Scott, Logan Marshall-Green, Sarah Jones, Chasten Harmon, Melinda Page Hamilton, Christopher Heyerdahl, Joe Adler, Teach Grant, Dan Donohue, David Haysom, Arnold Pinnock, and Rohan Mead. The heartland labor drama series centers on Seth Davenport (Scott). Although he’s a labor agitator, he poses as a small town Iowa preacher. Seth soon finds himself up against professional strikebreaker Creeley Turner (Marshall-Green), with whom he shares a dark and bloody past.
Damnation: A Look at the Ratings
The first season of Damnation averaged a 0.18 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 682,000 viewers. Out of the 10 USA Network TV shows we’re currently tracking, Damnation ranked seventh in terms of its demo ratings and rose to sixth place in terms of total audience size. While it could have gone either way, the cancellation isn’t shocking.
Series Creator Tony Tost on the Damnation Cancellation
In addition to Deadline and Variety confirming USA has passed on picking up Damnation season two, creator Tony Tost addressed the cancellation on Twitter. Check it out.
I love what we made, and how we went about making it. I'm proud to have #DamnationTV out there for people to still find days and weeks and months and years from now. Thanks and love to all who helped and supported and watched. https://t.co/fjjUaTM0zu

Earlier this week, Tost was still holding out hope for a Damnation season two renewal.
What do you think? Did you watch the first season? Should USA Network have cancelled or renewed Damnation for a second season? Sound off in the comments.
Cancelled! Wtf! This show was the only reason I looked forward to watching tv! Cant believe this damn nation! I really loved the show and the pain of it being cancelled not knowing what happened to Emilia is horrid!!! I’m sick of the which craft freak stuff naked jungle people shows I want shows like damnation where it is real and shows struggles of the past while being on an adventure not knowing what will happen next. Btw I’m 22 and my parents loved it just as much so I dont see a particular target age it seem to have… Read more »
Sad me and my wife really enjoyed this series. At least make a final . I hate shows that end without a finish. Shame on USA and those that cancelled it.
Cannot believe it was cancelled, but then that is probably because I don’t fall within the appropriate demographic. My thinking is that 18-49 year old viewers don’t watch as much tv as baby boomers. Maybe that should be your target audience.
I was looking foward to the second season of Damnation. I really enjoyed the storyline and the acting. The show was a refreshing change from the reality shows, sitcom reboots and police shows that dominate television today. I am just one voice but I do hope the decision makers reconsider cancelling this excellent series.
Not everyone likes super heroes, bachelors who can’t get a woman on their own or watching survivors in a jungle –some of us like a good story with a strong cast and Damnation was for me a winner because it was different than anything else. I will miss it
I bed this show very disappointed they are so stupid on these series dont even give nothing a chance I’m three with this chanel
Loved the show , so did my husband a great show we enjoyed watching together. So sad to see it was canceled. Was looking to see when the new season began. Sure hope they change their minds and bring it back, not to many shows out there I really enjoy. Reconsider!!!
Devistated to hear no season two. It was so original, perfect casting, great storyline. Photography and locations great! I could hardly wait until the next episode aired. Disappointing news.
I am for a second season of Damnation. Bring it back!!!
Really enjoyed S1
Great shame if no S2
Damnation was an excellent show with the perfect cast for the saga. It was a important periodic historic drama and one that I was so excited about. I even got friends and family watching it. USA needs to bring it back and do more to advertise it. They get one right and immediately cancel it!? Bad move USA.
The whole thing of ratings in an error of recording and binge watching is ridiculous. I just watched the whole first season, and I LOVED it. It was gripping. And the ending was left hanging. Please reconsider.
Absolutely loved Damnation! My husband and I looked forward to it every week. We even had it on auto record on the DVR in case we missed it so we could watch later. Loved the plot, the setting, the historical significance, everything!! Shame on you USA! If you had promoted it as much as you are promoting Suits (which I also enjoy and watch) it would have grown in popularity. Some people are sick and tired of being dumbed down by reality TV and still enjoy a good TV series with a story!! Wish another network would be smart enough… Read more »
I loved Damnation! It just got better by the minute on every episode. Unbelievable that they cancelled it!! Why on earth?? There is so much crap out there, so many ****** series that do deserve to be dumped… why cancel the real good stuff! You had a good one going USA… Bad, bad move!
Just finished watching this great series. Only to find out there is no Season 2. Its such a shame as we are left wanting more and needing questions answered from the last episode. Why oh why has season 2 been cancelled? Here’s hoping for a miracle.
