Did you miss Day Break on ABC last night? If so, you’re certainly not alone. We’ve been innundated with emails and traffic from people looking for details on what’s happened to the Taye Diggs series.
For those who don’t know, Day Break has been pulled from primetime by ABC after just six episodes due to low ratings. The on-going storyline is hardly resolved with seven unaired episodes left in the season. ABC has said they will post episodes (one per week) on their website but many people don’t have a powerful enough computer, can’t access the Internet long enough to watch, don’t have a fast Internet connection or, for many other reasons, simply can’t view the episodes. In short, millions of people who could have seen future episodes on free network television, will never see this excellent series — and we think the decision-makers should know.
So, we’re inviting you to sign a petition that asks the network and the production companies (Gross Entertainment and Touchstone Television) to release the series so that more people can see it — to return the series to network TV or at the least, to release it on DVD. With enough interest, there could even be a second season or a movie.
Let your friends, neighbors and co-workers know — anyone who misses Day Break — where they can find this petition. Naturally, the more names are collected, the better.
To sign the petition, fill out the “comments” box below. You only need to leave your name, city and state (or country). You may leave comments if you wish but please try to keep them civil. We’ll be monitoring the petition to ensure that it stays clean of spam or inappropriate comments. Let’s save Day Break!
Please note, due to the overwhelming response, 5,000 comments have been archived (for bandwidth issues).
To ABC, Gross Entertainment & Touchstone Television:
cc: Taye Diggs
We, the undersigned have enjoyed much of your programming, particularly the outstanding Day Break series. We have enjoyed the Taye Diggs series each week and are dismayed that it has been pulled from the primetime schedule.
We believe that the ratings have not accurately shown the show’s popularity for success. After just six episodes, we believe that Day Break was not given enough time to fully establish a potentially huge audience. Please remember that many very popular shows like MASH, 24 and Cheers were not immediate hits.
We understand that ABC is posting the remaining episodes online but, for a variety of reasons, millions of people are not able to see these episodes — resulting in lost viewership for you and disappointment and frustration for them.
We respectfully request that you return Day Break to network television and to consider continuing production of further episodes or even a film. At the very least, we ask that you make the existing episodes available to a wider audience via a DVD release.
Thank you in advance for your attention and consideration.
The Undersigned fans of Day Break
I’m still missing this show. Please bring it back-it’s much better than a lot of the shows that ABC has on now!!
I have no clue why Day Break was cancelled. That show was very good!!! I think whoever cut the show mad a huge mistake and I am very very very upset about the show being cancelled. The show was finally getting into the reason Taye Digggs character lived the same days over again, and then the show is cut what kind of crap is that!!!! Well I really hope Day Break comes back on. So whoever cut the show, you need to check those ratings you clamined you saw, so those veiwers who actually loved the show and could’nt wait… Read more »
bring it back, unless they want us to continue to watch reality tv garbage, not to mention Hop’s girlfriend is hottt!!!
Don’t understand why they killed this show. Finally watched the last episodes that I had missed, I loved the show hope someone picks it up. BRING IT BACK
I think one of the reasons why the ratings were not popular because the advertising was really an noying, every advertisement played the same few scenes, with Bret hopper saying “I love you” to his girl friend, which became really annoying, instead of diversifying the advertisements and drawing more appeal to the show. This deterred people from watching a really good show. So ABC should pull the advertisers from the show, not the show. Many people really miss the show and think that was nice change from those ridiculuous comedies or dramas that took Day Breaks place. October Road, what… Read more »
BRING BACK DAY BREAK!!!
You air the series on the same
time slot against the juggernaut
American Idol. How do you expect
a new series to survive against
that? Lost got moved back
because of Idol.
Seriously give Day Break another
chance. Just like Hopper.
best show on primetime… please bring the show back. i’m addicted.
This was the best freakin show I have ever watched, bring back season 2!!!
Day Break was such a great show. It wasn’t one of those run of the mill shows where you can turn to just about every station and find a carbon copy just like it. It had a great new concept with great actors. I really hope you guys would consider bring it back.
Thanks.
Bring this show back…it was amazing & as soon as I was so wrapped up & committed to the story, it was taken off the air.
Ridiculous! This was one of the best written shows I’ve ever seen…shame on you ABC!!!
My husband and I have just started watching online and we love this show. I don’t know how we missed it while on TV but I really want to know how it all ends! This is about the third show I’ve gotten into that has been cancelled this season and it stinks! I really want this to come out to DVD!
I can’t believe they cancelled such a great show. It was hardly advertised as well. They thought that just because it was on at the same time as Lost was, that it would get the same number of viewers. Well if the show wasn’t cancelled and had real advertising it would easily get the same viewing figures.
Disappointing, they’ve gotta bring it back for a proper second season.
DVD at least. Come on.
Please bring this show back!!!!! Where do you guys get these ratings from anyway. In all my years of living, I have never had a ratings box in my house. What’s worse is that I have never known anyone who has. This was a great show. Give it back!!!!
I loved Day Break. Why wasn’t it given a chance? This was the 1st show in a long time that got me on the first show. I was on edge waiting for the next episode. Please bring it back. All these useless reality shows are still on. Flava of Love is still on. Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston’s show lasted longer. Come on. Day Break was great.
