After a slow start, FOX has pulled the ongoing adventure series Drive from its schedule. Will we get to see the rest of the series and the race finish?
Drive is a dramatic series that shows a diverse group of competitive drivers taking part in an illegal road race. Some compete by choice while others are being forced to participate. The winner will supposedly receive a $32 million prize from an unknown sponsor. The series was created by Tim Minear and starred Nathan Fillion, Kristin Lehman, Mircea Monroe, Riley Smith, Emma Stone, Rochelle Aytes, Taryn Manning, Melanie Lynskey, Kevin Alejandro, and J.D. Pardo.
Drive debuted on April 15th with a double episode premiere. The ratings were a disappointment right out of the gate with an average of only six million viewers. Serving as a lead-in for FOX’s 24 on Monday night, Drive only attracted 5.6 million. The most recent episode attracted a million less, was in fifth place in its timeslot and dragged FOX down to fourth place for the night.
As a result, FOX has pulled the series effective immediately. Repeats of the ever-popular House will air in the Monday night slot for the foreseeable future.
FOX will likely air the rest of the Drive episodes on its MySpace page or on Friday evenings. How many episodes are left? At least two. FOX had planned to air six episodes this season but had ordered 13 back in late October 2006. Its unknown how many episodes have been completed but the series was still in production this week.
Either way, the race storyline was not intended to conclude at the end of the season and viewers will likely be left hanging. Who won? Certainly not the faithful millions who faithfully watched. Stay tuned!
You have got to be jokeing me? We loved this show, I can’t believe it’s been pulled! This is such CRAP!!!!
DRIVE….what a great show and us that are into the show will not even get to see the ending of the show.
I agree with everyone here. Drive had real potential, and was an incredible show. I can’t believe they would take it off of the air after such a short debut. It’s not like no one was watching either. Way to disappoint 6 million people fox!!! I hope it comes back, and make sure to sign the petition! http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/savedrive#sign
screw fox! that show was amazing!! me and my family loved it!! and we were so ready for tonights episode! BUT NOOO THE MAN HAD TO PULL IT OFF AIR BECAUSE IT DOESN’T BENEFIT THEM! WHAT ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY LIKED TO WATCH IT!? “oh we don’t care about them we just want our ratings to go up!” thats how you loose people right there!!
Drive!!!! You pulled it!!! How dare you!!!! It was one of the best shows on air. Now what are you going to do? Replace it with some mindless drivel, like another senseless Reality Show??? Please!!!! Put DRIVE back on the air!!!! It was refreshing and DIFFERENT, Not mindless CRAP like the other channels!!!
I just wanted to say – I liked DRIVE too…. and i don’t watch much tv – but that i actually enjoyed
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
What is wrong with you people? Just got into the show and loved it. For gods sake give it a real chance to catch on. You fox people have aggravated me for the last time. Put the show back on or lose me and my friends as a viewer for good.
It’s like they really don’t want me to watch TV anymore. I HATE the reality bullcrap. I had gotten 20 people I know interested in the show. Some are car buffs, others are new show buffs, I mean seriously, I am pretty well done with night time TV now. That was the only show I watched on the three days it was on. You may as well put reruns of Andy Griffith on for all I care. House will never be watched by me or my friends as of this moment. I may boycott Fox as well after this. I… Read more »
I have absolutely had it!!! I’m sick and tired of getting into a new show only to watch it die before it even gets a chance to catch on. What are these idiot network executives? 8 year olds with ADD? Lose interest after 4 episodes? This is the worst I have seen all 4 networks…EVER! You mean to tell me that Supernanny, Nanny 911, Wife Swap and Trading Spouses is good TV? Those POS shows hang around way too long and new shows get the can? There used to be a thing called mid-season replacements and now there are is… Read more »

Drive was a fantastic show, and it’s a shame that it was cancelled before it even had a chance to gain an audience.
This was probably my favorite cancelled show this year. I am sorry to see it go.
Is there some sort of a petiton we can sign to get fox to bring back the best new show since”Alias”???- If it worked for family guy…it can work for Drive…
It,s a sad day when 4.5 million viewers isn’t enough to keep a good show on the air. I’t wouldn’t surprise me if some day the networks order one episode at a time, and wait for the numbers to come in that night to decide if they want to order the next episode!
Oh, no… NOT AGAIN! Most people don’t know that there was an Original Pilot filmed for ‘Drive’ but when the network looked at it and the production price tag they said they wouldn’t do it because of the expense compared to the unscripted dramas they could show. they then came back to the people behind ‘Drive’ and told them they would be interested if they made some changes. So they cut down on the production costs and did some recasting (The lead went to Nathan Fillion) to fit Fox’s vision. Not being able to see the original lead, Ivan Sergei,… Read more »
