After a slow start, FOX has pulled the ongoing adventure series Drive from its schedule. Will we get to see the rest of the series and the race finish?
Drive is a dramatic series that shows a diverse group of competitive drivers taking part in an illegal road race. Some compete by choice while others are being forced to participate. The winner will supposedly receive a $32 million prize from an unknown sponsor. The series was created by Tim Minear and starred Nathan Fillion, Kristin Lehman, Mircea Monroe, Riley Smith, Emma Stone, Rochelle Aytes, Taryn Manning, Melanie Lynskey, Kevin Alejandro, and J.D. Pardo.
Drive debuted on April 15th with a double episode premiere. The ratings were a disappointment right out of the gate with an average of only six million viewers. Serving as a lead-in for FOX’s 24 on Monday night, Drive only attracted 5.6 million. The most recent episode attracted a million less, was in fifth place in its timeslot and dragged FOX down to fourth place for the night.
As a result, FOX has pulled the series effective immediately. Repeats of the ever-popular House will air in the Monday night slot for the foreseeable future.
FOX will likely air the rest of the Drive episodes on its MySpace page or on Friday evenings. How many episodes are left? At least two. FOX had planned to air six episodes this season but had ordered 13 back in late October 2006. Its unknown how many episodes have been completed but the series was still in production this week.
Either way, the race storyline was not intended to conclude at the end of the season and viewers will likely be left hanging. Who won? Certainly not the faithful millions who faithfully watched. Stay tuned!
It would seem this kind of thing makes FOX look bad, not the cancelled show.
Drive had a lot of potential, and Nathan Fillon is a great actor, they should have finished at least one season.
this is ridiculous i liked the show very much and this isnt the 1st time yous have cancelled a show right in the middle without letting us see the end there was that other show when the wife went missing and the other show with the friends fron high school and the girl getting killed now this my cable company wanted to cancel fox and i told them if they did i was switching to direct tv but i dont no for what now you dont even finish out your shows ever once everyone gets hooked
Come on FOX!!!! Bring back Drive. My family actually sat together to watch this show and we all looked forward to watching it every week. We hope you bring it back!! We’re very disappointed you took it off the air.
Grrr !
It would only take one person in a postion of influence who believes in this show to step up and fight for it. Give it a chance !!
Must I pull out the “Seinfeld” analogy???
Come on! I’ve been waiting to see the rest of this show since it aired, only to google it to find that it’s been cancelled. What is up with this network. I like House, but I would much rather watch DRIVE. IF ANYONE FROM THE NETWORK READS THIS GET IT BACK ON AND QUICK, IT WAS THE BEST NEW THING GOING. TAKE A CHANCE, PEOPLE STUCK WITH PRISON BREAK EVEN THOUGH THEY’VE ALREADY BROKE OUT.
WTF….another show canceled. These TV networks are getting horrible, its getting to the point that no one wants to watch a new show due to it has a high chance of being canceled. Its seems when they put a reality show on it must continue all the way but any other show gets the ax? Come on get back to good programming again and no more reality shows. I don’t know what to watch anymore…..give me a reason to watch network programming again!
Sell it to SciFi – they can run an all day marathon (instead of the Twilight Zone)and we all can see Drive from start to finsh. We’ll see then how many people tune in…….
Pass the petition, I’ll sigh.
Bring back “Drive”.
Maynard’s Grandma, Jeannie
I loved this show!!
I am so mad that it’s not airing anymore!!
Mondays suk, it was the only GOOD thing about Monday. Race home get all set for 7pm.. until..all that came on was reruns of House??? HUH??
Then all the reality shows(cuz u keep checking to see what day it moved to..nope, gone)WAY disappointed..
It really suck’s that they put a good show like “DRIVE”on the air and you really like what you see and each week you want to see more.I didn’t know that drive had been cenceled until I just red it on the net.I don’t watch a lot of tv but every monday at 8:00 I looked forward to watching “DRIVE” and so did a co-worker I gave a tape of the show to, and now that “DRIVE” is gone what are all of us fans supposted to watch on monday’s. MAD IN MARYLAND
I too am in accord with the rest of these messages. I was excited to see a program that had my heart racing. And when I went to watch the next episode, HOUSE was on.. How predictable this show is.. GAK We know what will happen – I have been turning off the TV and turning on the radio – at least the radio is not as disappointing as the major tv stations are. I have to agree with a person who posted “No one cares about who signs online petitions, because they’re easy enough to ignore by simply pressing… Read more »
I really liked the show “Drive.” I agree with many of the people on this site who wrote that they didn’t watch much t.v. and this show was there only outlet to a hard days work. I actually looked forward to this show and didn’t even know it was cancelled until 5 minutes ago when it didn’t come on and reruns of “House” were on…not that that isn’t a good show too but come on already…enough with the medical hero shows!!! “Drive” was different and if you gave it a shot I’m sure it would have performed to your standards…i… Read more »
I can’t believe they pulled this show. My husband and I thought it was great. We even got our neighbors all together to watch it. I really hope they put it back on. I need to know who wins the race!!! I thought the cast was great. Please Fox put it back on!!!
WTF??? This is more proof as to why Network telivision will be replaced be the internet. Make quality interesting shows with intricate plots and twists. I would love to know where all this Neilson ratings Bull comes from. A handfull of obviously idiots that only watch reality telivision rule our airways. For me, I suppose my days of watching Network programing are over. Every good show gets cancelled in order to show reruns. Wow, you must be well beyond my mental capacity because I can’t understand. Good luck with your future viewers Networks because I am no linger one.
