The game is afoot once more. Today, CBS announced they’ve renewed Elementary for a fifth season, which will air during the 2016-2017 season.
A modern update of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic Sherlock Holmes stories, Elementary stars Jonny Lee Miller as Holmes and Lucy Liu as Dr. Joan Watson. The drama also stars Aidan Quinn and Jon Michael Hill.
Currently in its fourth season, Elementary has seen some change this year. Recently, CBS moved the series from its usual Thursday timeslot to Sundays. The move doesn’t seem to have made a noticeable difference in the ratings. So far, this season has dipped by about 20%, with a 1.03 rating in the 18-49 demo and around 5.79 million viewers.
Today, the network announced 2016-17 season renewals of 10 other shows as well — 2 Broke Girls, The Amazing Race, Blue Bloods, Hawaii Five-0, Madam Secretary, Mom, NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: New Orleans, Scorpion, and Survivor.
What do you think? Do you watch Elementary? Are you glad it’s been renewed or do you think the show is losing steam?
love the show leave it on
love the show keep in on
Haven’t missed an episode! Changing days costs you viewers! Be stable with airing day!
Elementary is a great show. Started watching 2nd season, but I am now catching up with 1 and 2. It is a 10. I hope it continues!!!
We love Elementary! It would be good to see Johnny Lee Miller interviewed. Sherlocks father is a key character. Creepy and fascinating. The hard part for us is understanding Sherlock. Deep voice and talks fast. Joan is wonderful.
I love this show and the relationship between Sherlock and Watson, good friends and partners, no sexual relationship. I hope they keep it that way
Elementary is a show I watch & dvr. I got a,little mad when sherlock relapsed & joan moved out but it’s back on track & I’m excited about the new season.
This show assists in the pronunciation of the English language. This show hones my brain with Sherlock’s wit, that when digested my brain emits a uncontrollable inner smirking in an almost uncontrollable manner. This show has increased my admiration of the writers as they create a “believable”synopsis, ably assisted by “sound”characters whose personalities allow me to think I that I actually “know” them. This show has, above all increased my powers of observation, not by mimicking Sherlock, but by adopting some of his methods. The methods can be learned by watching the series more than once. I am currently on… Read more »
Elementary is a great, thought provoking show and I also like the under current of modern lifestyle study, like dealing with addiction.
I LOVE this show!!! Just trying to listen & figure out Sherlock’s English accent, when he starts speaking at 100 miles an hours sometimes, is hilarious. Especially when he throws out those little zingers once in a while!
I love that Elementary has been renewed!! Thursday is the best time slot for this show. May I suggest more physical action for Holmes and Watson to attract more viewers. Also it would be more interesting if there was a romantic interest for Watson and
bring back Holmes brother.
I love this show as well as the cancelled show Stalker. It seems we get involved in these intelligent shows with less violence and action and then they’re cancelled. It’s a real shame.
I really enjoy this show. I’m on my seat when I watch it. I’m glad there will be another season for us to enjoy. The characters are amazing and I definitely like Johnny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu and the rest of the characters as well. The plots are greatly written. Keep them coming I’m definitely keep watching to the end. Hope the seasons never lol which I know everything comes to one in time. Hope more people come and watch so we can keep them on air.
Love this series. Sophisticated , whimsical, smart, well written. The cast is priceless and the dialog superb… Keep it coming …
The scripts and cast of “Elementary” make for a series of a rare breed, that is fresh, smart, intriguing and, most-importantly, reasonably believable, unlike the current mainstream media trends that favor forced plot contrivances of over-the-top scenes, one-chance-in-a-billion coincidences and “DON’T MISS!”, “SEASON’S BIGGEST SHOCKER!” twists predictably shoved into the final frames of every (yawn) episode offered up by those like the Shonda-Land script mill on ABC.
And… I agree with Garry… Lucy Liu is wonderful to watch. She is pure casting gold.
