Click your heels together three times and make a wish, Oz fans. EPs Shaun Cassidy and David Schulner are ready, willing, and able to make a second season of the Emerald City TV show, should NBC choose to take them up on it. The first 10-episode limited season concluded its run on Friday, March 3rd, with the finale episode, “There’s No Place Like Home.”
A limited event series, Emerald City starred Adria Arjona, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Ana Ularu, Mido Hamada, Gerran Howell, Jordan Loughran, Joely Richardson, and Vincent D’Onofrio. Isabel Lucas, Roxy Sternberg, Stefanie Martini, Rebeka Rea, and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson recurred on the NBC fantasy drama, based on the Oz novels by L. Frank Baum.
EPs Ready to Make Emerald City Season Two for NBC
Every week during Emerald City‘s network run, the duo has discussed behind-the-scenes happenings and explained the details of the new NBC TV series with Entertainment Weekly. This week, they shared their thoughts in the form of a thank you note. In it, Cassidy and Schulner indicated they’d love to make more of the fantasy drama. Here’s more from EW.com.
As you have seen in our finale, “No Place Like Home” (written by David Schulner and Josh Carlebach), this story has now ended, but a new one lies ahead. Should NBC choose to make another limited series based on Baum’s characters, David and I would welcome the opportunity. If not, know that this has been one of the most fulfilling experiences either of us has enjoyed, and we remain humbled by all of our brilliant creative partners who made this show so exceptional.
With gratitude to all of you,
Shaun Cassidy & David Schulner

Emerald City: A Look at the Season One Ratings
While Cassidy and Schulner would love to make a new season of Emerald City, what are the odds NBC will want one? Well, we think they’re about as low as the show’s ratings in season one.
In its first season, the Emerald City TV show averaged a 0.72 rating in the 18-49 year old viewer demographic and a total audience of 3.027 million viewers. As of today, those numbers mean the show is 17th out of The Peacock Network’s 17 scripted shows we’re tracking, when sorted by their demo numbers.
When sorted by total viewers, Emerald City rises just one notch to 16th place, in terms of audience size — beating out only the new sitcom, Powerless. In fact, even when compared to NBC’s non-scripted (i.e. less expensive to produce) programming, Emerald City‘s numbers leave it at the bottom of the barrel. Only Caught on Camera with Nick Cannon is a weaker Nielsen performer.

What do you think? Did you watch the first season on NBC? Do you think the Emerald City TV show will be cancelled or renewed for season two?
I would love to have a season 2! Please renew Emerald City.
Season 2 would be great! Emerald City is more based the books than The Wizard of Oz ever was. There is constant battle for power vs The Wizard of Oz, everything happy go lucky, singing and dancing. Even Return to Oz was closer the books. The twists in Emerald City are great, the actors are great, and needs continue… One season per book would great!!! NBC needs to promote Emerald City a little more, and give it better slot, and sure they will have a huge hit on their hands!
I’d love to see a season 2!
I enjoyed Season 1, please renew Season 2. Great plots!
I loved both the creative scripts and great acting in this show. Pleaasssseeee bring it back for another season!
Please renew!!! Need a second season. I LOVED this show!
Let’s face it ladies and gents, the show was not what we thought it would be. Same old story Dorothy goes to Oz.. Big deal right?
Yes it was a big deal and an awesome show.
Now that being said, where is my season 2?
I would like to see a season 2 enjoyed it very much3u98j
I’d like to see a season 2 I enjoyed it very much
This show deserves to have a second season the story is so great everything is unexpected which I love. Don’t have cable to support it been watching it on Hulu. The ratings is not because the show sucks, it’s that not all people have the leverage to have cable and get on NBC network to watch live.
Please renew. Slow start, but great finish.
Hope NBC decides to renew Emerald City started out not sure I would like it but it gradually sucked me in and it became a “can’t miss” show for me . It’s a unique take on the OZ story and kept me entertained.
I am at 3/4 century mark and I love this series, I am sincerely hoping for another series! Please!
I wasn’t sure how much i was going to like the show when it started, but it just sucked me right in. Please renew this show. You can leave us hanging on the brink, of all hell breaking loose, in Oz.
The show is averaging a 0.72 It wouldn’t be the lowest rated show ever renewed. I think Aquarius will have that title for a long time. Would NBC renew this over Blindspot, which will probably finish with way better ratings in its first 2 seasons(but isn’t doing great this season, but better than Emerald City?) Stay Tuned.
