What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the NBC television network, Emerald City is the tale of a young woman named Dorothy Gale (Adria Arjona). She finds her true strength and identity as she battles to bring a divided world together. An all-powerful ruler called the Wizard (Vincent D’Onofrio) governs over one kingdom. He has outlawed magic and faces a looming disaster brought on by a mythical force — as well as the wrath of a growing cauldron of witches. The rest of the cast includes Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Ana Ularu, Mido Hamada, Gerran Howell, Jordan Loughran, and Joely Richardson.
Season One Ratings
The first season of Emerald City on NBC averaged a 0.72 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.02 million viewers. Compare its standing against the other NBC TV shows we are tracking. This fantasy series has been on a rocky road. It was supposed to film in 2014 and air in 2015 but NBC cancelled production due to creative differences. The network reversed that decision in April 2015 and hired a new showrunner. The series didn’t premiere until January 2017 and was given a Friday night timeslot. That leads me to think they may not have much faith in the series. The ratings have been quite poor, even for a Friday night show. Unless something magical happens to lift the ratings, I believe the Emerald City series is doomed to be cancelled. Sorry, Dorothy. 5/5 update: Emerald City has been cancelled by NBC. There will be no second season. Details here.

I watched the whole season in two days. I don’t watch a lot of shows but this was great!!! I’m really hoping for another season and soon!!
i just watched this and i know it received poor ratings but i actually thought it was a great take on wizard oz and think it deserves at least one more series if only to give it a good ending with no cliff hanger….
My daughter & I really liked this show. The lack of depth that critics complain about are really set up for the story to come. We know who all the players are, we have general background them & now it’s time to play. We will be SO BUMMED if we don’t get the payout of season 2. Please renew!!!
it’s a really good show, I hope there is going to be a season 2
I hope there is a season 2!!! This is a great twist on The Wizard of Oz! We love the show!
