What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the NBC television network, Emerald City is the tale of a young woman named Dorothy Gale (Adria Arjona). She finds her true strength and identity as she battles to bring a divided world together. An all-powerful ruler called the Wizard (Vincent D’Onofrio) governs over one kingdom. He has outlawed magic and faces a looming disaster brought on by a mythical force — as well as the wrath of a growing cauldron of witches. The rest of the cast includes Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Ana Ularu, Mido Hamada, Gerran Howell, Jordan Loughran, and Joely Richardson.
Season One Ratings
The first season of Emerald City on NBC averaged a 0.72 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.02 million viewers. Compare its standing against the other NBC TV shows we are tracking. This fantasy series has been on a rocky road. It was supposed to film in 2014 and air in 2015 but NBC cancelled production due to creative differences. The network reversed that decision in April 2015 and hired a new showrunner. The series didn’t premiere until January 2017 and was given a Friday night timeslot. That leads me to think they may not have much faith in the series. The ratings have been quite poor, even for a Friday night show. Unless something magical happens to lift the ratings, I believe the Emerald City series is doomed to be cancelled. Sorry, Dorothy. 5/5 update: Emerald City has been cancelled by NBC. There will be no second season. Details here.

What do you think? Do you think the Emerald City TV show should have been renewed for a second season? How do you feel about NBC’s cancelling this TV series?
Really enjoy. Please return for season 2. Love to see what happens next.
This show should definitely be renewed. I love this reimagined version of Oz and how the original stories have been woven into the series. It would be very disappointing if this show gets cancelled.
Please renew. Word of mouth should get better ratings. This is one of the best sci fi shows on now and only getting better each episode. At least give it another season. You have some very devoted fans of this show.
Love it!!! Please release season 2. Will be devastated if not. Word of mouth will spread and this will be a brilliant series
Absolutely adored it! Would love another series please!
Please renew! I love The Wizard of Oz and this is adaptation is wonderful. I am hooked!
Love,Love,Love this show. Love the actors the set design and the Story most of all. If we have to go somewhere on a Friday night we always DVR the show and sometimes watch it twice !!! Please renew. And rerunning it on another night.
I can only ask to renew it, as everybody knows the original story but nobody ever heard off a sequel which should automatically push the ratings up!
I’m not going to beg to renew it, but maybe NBC would better give it a second chance, because everybody knows the story off the wizard of Oz , but nobody would know the story off the sequel……wich I think may automatically give more viewers…..I am only a guy who lives in oe off the smallest countries off the world…belgium….So who cares about what I think
Please renew Emerald City now that you have cancelled Grimm. Scifi and fantasy is pretty much all that I watch.
It’s a great show emerald city I give it 10 out of 10 please renewed for season two
love the show. cast is great. stories are original. please give it at least another year. maybe on monday.
Emerald City is a GREAT show! LOVE it! Great plot, actors, story line a must renew!!
I love the show.. Please don’t dump it.. Give it a serious chance.. Give it a good time slot and see what happens!!
I am a huge fan of fantasy and scifi and don’t think there’s enough of it on TV. I truly enjoy this show. There’s enough of the original premise to keep in the WofOz universe, but with twists to make it interesting and appealing. If NBC cancels it, I would hope that some other network picks it up. At the least, I believe that NBC—and every other network that produces shows of this type—owe their viewers a satisfying ending to the single series. Knowing that a show could end with a never-resolved cliff hanger makes it hard to invest our… Read more »
