What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the NBC television network, Emerald City is the tale of a young woman named Dorothy Gale (Adria Arjona). She finds her true strength and identity as she battles to bring a divided world together. An all-powerful ruler called the Wizard (Vincent D’Onofrio) governs over one kingdom. He has outlawed magic and faces a looming disaster brought on by a mythical force — as well as the wrath of a growing cauldron of witches. The rest of the cast includes Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Ana Ularu, Mido Hamada, Gerran Howell, Jordan Loughran, and Joely Richardson.
Season One Ratings
The first season of Emerald City on NBC averaged a 0.72 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.02 million viewers. Compare its standing against the other NBC TV shows we are tracking. This fantasy series has been on a rocky road. It was supposed to film in 2014 and air in 2015 but NBC cancelled production due to creative differences. The network reversed that decision in April 2015 and hired a new showrunner. The series didn’t premiere until January 2017 and was given a Friday night timeslot. That leads me to think they may not have much faith in the series. The ratings have been quite poor, even for a Friday night show. Unless something magical happens to lift the ratings, I believe the Emerald City series is doomed to be cancelled. Sorry, Dorothy. 5/5 update: Emerald City has been cancelled by NBC. There will be no second season. Details here.

What do you think? Do you think the Emerald City TV show should have been renewed for a second season? How do you feel about NBC’s cancelling this TV series?
I loved this show from the very beginning. The cast is great, and it should be renewed for the second season. If Fridays won’t give it the ratings it deserves, pick another day of the week. There is so much more we need to learn from this show. The show is not finished, I want to know what will happen next. Please keep the show and renew it.
Absolutely loved this show! Please renew!!!!
Please Renew!!!!!
Finally a show worth watching amongst a series of useless dramas.
It’s a breathe of amiable air.
Please Renew!
I would be extremely disappointed if Emerald City is cancelled! It is an inspired retelling of the classic story with an intriguing plot, colorful set designs and solid performers. So many shows are cancelled before they are allowed to find their audience. Emerald City was only given three months to prove itself – 10 episodes is barely half a season. Before deciding to cancel it, they should at least give it a full season! In my opinion, Emerald City would have been better served if it were planned as a multi-season special program/mini-series. This would give it the opportunity to… Read more »

Great program! It needs to be renewed.
I LOVED Emerald City, and I am desperate for it to continue! I am most fascinated with Tip/Ozma, and West. They could bring in other stories and characters from Baums books… I LOVE this show, will be sad if its cancelled ! I would PAY $100 to see another season!
Great Friday night show! I really enjoyed and would very much look forward to season 2!!!
