What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the NBC television network, Emerald City is the tale of a young woman named Dorothy Gale (Adria Arjona). She finds her true strength and identity as she battles to bring a divided world together. An all-powerful ruler called the Wizard (Vincent D’Onofrio) governs over one kingdom. He has outlawed magic and faces a looming disaster brought on by a mythical force — as well as the wrath of a growing cauldron of witches. The rest of the cast includes Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Ana Ularu, Mido Hamada, Gerran Howell, Jordan Loughran, and Joely Richardson.
Season One Ratings
The first season of Emerald City on NBC averaged a 0.72 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.02 million viewers. Compare its standing against the other NBC TV shows we are tracking. This fantasy series has been on a rocky road. It was supposed to film in 2014 and air in 2015 but NBC cancelled production due to creative differences. The network reversed that decision in April 2015 and hired a new showrunner. The series didn’t premiere until January 2017 and was given a Friday night timeslot. That leads me to think they may not have much faith in the series. The ratings have been quite poor, even for a Friday night show. Unless something magical happens to lift the ratings, I believe the Emerald City series is doomed to be cancelled. Sorry, Dorothy. 5/5 update: Emerald City has been cancelled by NBC. There will be no second season. Details here.

What do you think? Do you think the Emerald City TV show should have been renewed for a second season? How do you feel about NBC’s cancelling this TV series?
As a life long fan of the Wizard of Oz, I really like Emerald City. The 1600s setting with modern technology along with the Pink Floyd was classic.
Renew Emerald City.
Love it finally a show worth getting into! Record it every week. I hope it doesn’t get cancelled if so I hope another network picks it up.
Renew Emerald City!!
Renew!!!
Please renew it! I love this show, they HAVE to come back with another season!
Bring it back. Pleeeease!!!
Renew it!!!
Please don’t cancel this. It’s the first show that I have watched “live” instead of DVRing in yeaes! It’s some of the best programming on TV right now.
So far I like this show. But I Really can’t understand why they’ve reversed everything so much. Making the wizard of Oz into a bad guy & Glinda seemingly Not much better if at all.
I hope it continues on to have really enjoyed watching this
This show is the only good programing that NBC has had in a long while. If they do cancel it I hope and pray some other network picks it up.
Just found a show worth watching on TV
Please keep it going

LOVE this show!!! Don’t you dare cancel it please!!!
NBC is a bunch of idiots hopefully NETFLIX a great place to watch TV can pick it up ……..this is why i stay away from network TV – their audience isn’t smart enough to sustain good TV…….that is why i am happy to have cable – scfy – tbs – tnt screw NBC……probably why they are last in the ratings
Amen
I thought this was a great show and my favorite take on Oz. Hope NBC gives it another season and doesn’t cancel and leave us with unanswered questions. If a show has to be cancelled at least wrap it up and don’t leave a cliffhanger to be never resolved.
Wait til Dorothy Must Die is made for tv as is the plan and then that will be better then this. As long as it goes in the sane direction as the books. Honestly. And I love Emerald City.
