Like many of the shows on the UPN and the WB, the recently-announced network merger has left Everwood fans hanging. With only half as much airtime to fill, execs at the new CW network have some tough choices to make. Shows like Veronica Mars, Gilmore Girls and Smallville seem like a shoe-in for return but a show like Everwood has a less than certain fate.
The first CW schedule won’t be released for quite awhile but the future doesn’t look promising for the drama series for a couple reasons. Everwood hasn’t shown great numbers and has been off the air for months. The latter is in part due to the fact that reruns of the show typically don’t do well in the ratings. In addition, Everwood creator Greg Berlanti recently signed a three-year production deal with competing studio Disney. Though he’ll be busy with other projects, Berlanti reportedly expressed hope that the show will see a fifth season.
Fortunately for viewers, Executive Producer Rina Mimoun isn’t taking chances. It’s been said that she’s preparing two alternate scripts for this season’s final show — a season finale and a series finale — so that show fans won’t be left hanging if the show doesn’t return.
The Treat Williams drama is scheduled to return to the WB airwaves on March 27, 2006 with the remaining new episodes of the 2005-06 season.
EVERWOOD MUST RETURN! I lead a very busy life style, and I didn’t even know Everwood was a TV series until they started airing the reruns on ABC Family, and now I never miss a re-run! This is truly my favorite TV show that I have ever watched! I was a huge Gilmore Girls fan, but Everwood I do believe ranks above them in my heart now! PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!!
I absolutely love Everwood…a good family show to watch. It is no wonder our society is getting the way it is….the only thing anyone can watch on TV is smut and crime.
Please reconsider
everwood was a great show but one tree hill rocks .i wish i was on but oh well. life go’s on
Wife and I plead for renewal as do many others here at the Beverwyck in Slingerlands, NY.

I wasnt a huge Everwood fan but I did get to see a few episodes. I wasn’t aware of the show being cancelled until I started wondering what happened to a couple of the WB shows and several of UPNs shows. Even though I thought 7th Heaven was reaching a dead end when they added several new characters, that werent family, living in the house and Lucy marring the cop, I still thought it and Everwood were much more worthy of staying on the air than One Tree Hill and the ghost chasing show thats only on because the two… Read more »
I think that you guys SHOULD NOT cancel Everwood. I think it is too much of a entertaining show and if you cancel it many fans will be disapointed. At least bump other unpopular shows like “One tree hill” and “Veronica Mars” It would be a bad choice to just leave all Everwood fans hanging.
I think everwood shouldn’t be cancelled. Everwood is my favorite show and many of my friends as well. I think other shows should be cancelled instead. I also have a question. If there will be another season.. will they be able to be bought on DVD?
I am truely disapointed that Everwood was cancelled. I realize that TV is targeted towards a particular age group, and that maybe this “clean” show can’t compete with the problems that are aired on the other shows, but it was clean enough for my 6 year old daughter to be able to watch. I am glad that 7th Heaven wasn’t cancelled, but it’s not too late to bring it back on. Bump Veronica Mars or even Gilmore Girls.
I love everwood and it should not be cancled. It shall go on!!!!!

You know, it’s not too late to bring Everwood back. One Tree Hill’s ratings have dropped, and it’s still on the air. The mistake can still be corrected. Bring Everwood back—7th Heaven came back, and that was a good decision. At least there is SOMETHING decent to watch on TV nowadays. At least make a movie or something. Don’t just leave us all hanging.
I cannot believe that Everwood was cancelled. I’ve been waiting patiently and checking the TV section each week. Everwood was one of my two favortie programs. 7th Heaven & Everwood were the only two programs that I watch weekly.
Man i wish this show was still going it should be renewed especialy because it is now airing on ABC family wich will get more people intrested lke it did for smallville gilmore girls and 7th heaven also i have see hundreds maybe thousands of people mad that it has been cancled and NOONE who is glad to see its back EVERWOOD should be given a fighting chance for at least one more season to tie up lose ends! Its not fair to leave us off like this!!!
My daughter & I have been watching Everwood from the very begining. We have been waiting for the show to start again this fall and we are so very dissappointed to see that the show has been cancelled. Why? We are hoping someone changes their mind and brings the show back. We really want to see whats going to happen with these people we have come to know so well. Just keep this show going – we are not ready for it to end yet…..
i like everwood so much i don’t think they should have taken it off the air.7thHeaven and One Tree hill are good showes to. One tree hill relates to old mature people not to these little teenagers that don’t understand the point of the show. If they don’t understand it they think it should be taken off the air just because they don’t like it. If they took all the shows off the air just because someone else didn’t like it there would be no TV except for what you like. Thats not right… have a open mind young ones!!!!
