Claire finally realizes what Adam and Ben endured when she visits the hell hole-like tomb where they were kept, exploding with grief, anger and frustration. Meanwhile Jane looks to make a getaway as Nina closes in on Doug’s location, and Agent Clements’ time is running out. Hank comes face to face with his inner demons, and one phone call shatters Ben’s world, forcing him to tackle an uncertain destiny.

The Family was canceled due to low ratings. As of the May 8th episode, the series averaged 0.83 in the 18-49 year-old viewer demographic and drew an average total audience of 3.276 million viewers. We have been tracking 25 scripted ABC series during the 2015-16 television season. Those numbers leave The Family ranked 21st out of 25, when sorted by both the demo and total average audience.

ABC cancelled The Family on Thursday, May 12, 2016, so this first season finale was not written as an intentional TV series finale. If the audience will get sufficient closure or satisfaction from “What Took So Long,” remains to be seen.

My family enjoyed this show and the last episode was amazing! Please bring it back for another season. Maybe for next summer? This episode was left with to many unanswered questions.

This is ridiculous ABC!!! You air such an awesome show and then cancel it as it finally shows that Adam is alive! This is exactly why I stopped watching shows on your network!!! Let’s just say ABC is no longer on my most watched networks and I will not be recommending this network at all!!! I found this show just intriguing, captivating and to be honest I have been in front of the tv every single Sunday night to make sure I didn’t miss anything. The Family should definitely be picked up by another network. It was great, smart and suspenseful! At last not another stupid sit com.
I am angry at ABC the cancellation of a number of shows; especially the Family & Nashville, Yet they keep the useless reality shows like Dancing with the Start & the Bachelorette. I will think twice of watching shows on ABC

We need a season 2! Great plotting and such clever twists. Shocking characters. All this series needs is better promotion so people know about it! At least give us a few more episodes to satisfy us faithful viewers!!
Terrific series. Figures the network cancels a well-written, well-acted series. Hopefully cable or hulu may pick it up. Count on the networks to show only predictable mind-numbing drivel.
I was in the minority I thought The Family was a great show. If General Hospital gets cancelled I am done with ABC.
So disappointed to hear The Family has been canceled. It’s so different from everything else you see on television. I was already anticipating season 2.
