The Family stars Joan Allen stars as Claire Warren, Alison Pill as Willa Warren, Rupert Graves as John Warren, and Zach Gilford as Danny Warren. Margot Bingham is Detective Nina Meyer. Liam James is Ben/Adam Warren. Andrew McCarthy is Hank Asher. Floriana Lima is Bridey Cruz. Young Willa and Danny are played by Madeleine Arthur and Rarmian Newton.

Claire finally realizes what Adam and Ben endured when she visits the hell hole-like tomb where they were kept, exploding with grief, anger and frustration. Meanwhile Jane looks to make a getaway as Nina closes in on Doug’s location, and Agent Clements’ time is running out. Hank comes face to face with his inner demons, and one phone call shatters Ben’s world, forcing him to tackle an uncertain destiny.

The Family was canceled due to low ratings. As of the May 8th episode, the series averaged 0.83 in the 18-49 year-old viewer demographic and drew an average total audience of 3.276 million viewers. We have been tracking 25 scripted ABC series during the 2015-16 television season. Those numbers leave The Family ranked 21st out of 25, when sorted by both the demo and total average audience.

ABC cancelled The Family on Thursday, May 12, 2016, so this first season finale was not written as an intentional TV series finale. If the audience will get sufficient closure or satisfaction from “What Took So Long,” remains to be seen.

It absolutely should have been renewed! It is the best show on network tv right now. Excellent writing and acting!! Every show was suspenseful revealing yet another clue in the twisted story. Please, please ABC. Give this show another chance. Put more promotion behind it!! Watching one show will get you hooked!! Wr must know the rest of “The Family”‘s story!!!!

How can this be a “finale” when they left the viewers hanging? Very disgusting end to a good show.
I loved the show and looked forward to watching it. The finale didn’t leave me with a closure. They could have done better to provide the viewers with a closure. Disappointed!
I am very upset that this show is canceled! The finale was so amazing that i checked to see when season 2 would start…just to find out that it’s canceled! ugh… how frustrating. There’s soooo many ways they could take this story. I’m so shocked with 3 different events that took place tonight. So many questions left unanswered…. I really hope there will be a season 2. My family loves this show.

I cannot believe they cancelled this show! Someone else needs to pick it up or ABC needs to change theiron minds! I LOVE this show and the way they left it… there are no words. You can’t end a series like that.. maybe a season but not a series!
I just watched the finale and am so disappointed to find out it wasn’t renewed for another season!! Thought the characters were great and the storyline very captivating to watch. Please someone else pick this show up!!
