The Family stars Joan Allen stars as Claire Warren, Alison Pill as Willa Warren, Rupert Graves as John Warren, and Zach Gilford as Danny Warren. Margot Bingham is Detective Nina Meyer. Liam James is Ben/Adam Warren. Andrew McCarthy is Hank Asher. Floriana Lima is Bridey Cruz. Young Willa and Danny are played by Madeleine Arthur and Rarmian Newton.

Claire finally realizes what Adam and Ben endured when she visits the hell hole-like tomb where they were kept, exploding with grief, anger and frustration. Meanwhile Jane looks to make a getaway as Nina closes in on Doug’s location, and Agent Clements’ time is running out. Hank comes face to face with his inner demons, and one phone call shatters Ben’s world, forcing him to tackle an uncertain destiny.

The Family was canceled due to low ratings. As of the May 8th episode, the series averaged 0.83 in the 18-49 year-old viewer demographic and drew an average total audience of 3.276 million viewers. We have been tracking 25 scripted ABC series during the 2015-16 television season. Those numbers leave The Family ranked 21st out of 25, when sorted by both the demo and total average audience.

ABC cancelled The Family on Thursday, May 12, 2016, so this first season finale was not written as an intentional TV series finale. If the audience will get sufficient closure or satisfaction from “What Took So Long,” remains to be seen.

Dumb move ABC, I hope someone else picks up this show and Nashville. I’m sick of Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal, The Catch is not all that catchy. You need some NEW shows and just cancelled the best ones! Do you really think we want to keep watching Grey’s for another 12 years or Scandal which is running around in circles?

Hell yes season 2.. Is this a joke???? Seriously I work at a very big hospital in Atlanta and we all watch the show All… Not sure where your census data is coming from but it’s truly WRONG Wrong!!! The family season 2,3,4,5 is desired
love this show!! Bring it back, don’t leave us hanging
For years I had stopped watching TV series because they were crap. Breaking Bad changed my mind so I reconsidered my attitude and tried out series like Extant, the Whispering and The Family. Of the three the latter was by far the best and all three were canceled. I am not going to invest my time and interest in series anymore. I clearly do not agree with the average American viewer.
I am extremely sad that ABC has cancelled this program, each week, I couldn’t wait to watch it. And yes, OF COURSE, I want to know what WOULD have happened if the series had not been canceled. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!
I just gotta say WTF! I’m utterly pissed off! I can’t believe abc is really cancelling such an amazing show, it had so many layers and elements added to the story., I don’t think there was any other good show since Lost ended.. First off u cancel the family because of the viewers?? It’s the wrong time slot and u didn’t even give the show a chance even when there was promising uptickings.. Absolutely a bad move on ABC’s part. Who makes these decisions? Obviously not people who like to watch quality TV. The ABC brass should reconsidered
and give this fantastic show another shot.
This show is awesome!!!!!! Myself and many friends really enjoy it and cant wait til the next episode every week. Seems something isnt right with the ratings system!!!!!!!!!!

This show is one of the best thrillers on TV by far. It’s my Sunday’s night must-see. Please do not cancel it.
