Claire finally realizes what Adam and Ben endured when she visits the hell hole-like tomb where they were kept, exploding with grief, anger and frustration. Meanwhile Jane looks to make a getaway as Nina closes in on Doug’s location, and Agent Clements’ time is running out. Hank comes face to face with his inner demons, and one phone call shatters Ben’s world, forcing him to tackle an uncertain destiny.

The Family was canceled due to low ratings. As of the May 8th episode, the series averaged 0.83 in the 18-49 year-old viewer demographic and drew an average total audience of 3.276 million viewers. We have been tracking 25 scripted ABC series during the 2015-16 television season. Those numbers leave The Family ranked 21st out of 25, when sorted by both the demo and total average audience.

ABC cancelled The Family on Thursday, May 12, 2016, so this first season finale was not written as an intentional TV series finale. If the audience will get sufficient closure or satisfaction from “What Took So Long,” remains to be seen.

This series/story is very, very intriguing and engaging. However, there wasn’t a character on there (or actor I should say) that wasn’t pretty yucky. Andrew McCarthy wins for acting … pretty amazing huh? The rest were just so unlikable.
I LOVE The Family! I agree with another commenter that there was not very much promotion for it. That is probably why the low ratings, not because of the show itself!!
How could they cancel a show without an ending. They should at least show an ending, then cancel. I really like the show, and excited that there was a season two.
This show is the best I have seen in a long time! It needs to be picked up by another network fast! Best story line. Please air this show for a second season
This is one of my favorite shows and I’d hate to see it take an end so soon. The radio has talked about it and many viewers love this show. Please don’t end it!!!!

How do you can cell the family and push through with Quantico? The family was an excellent show and to leave viewers hanging like that is such a terrible thing to do.
The show was poorly placed as CBS seemed to monopolize Sunday night
Too Bad a change in time and day was not explored. The last show suggested a provocative plot worthy of seeing to the end.
I absolutely love the show it’s hard to believe the show is over. The best show yet but they cancel it but keep other RIDICULOUS shows on who cares about the Bachelor or Bachelorette that’s so fake and played along with Teen Moms it’s sad the Family actually had meaning and truth to it. It’s disappoint
I absolutely love this show! I couldn’t wait for the next show to come on. And I love the cliffhangers they have at the end of each show. I hope somebody else picks this up,
I don’t watch cable tv series anymore, but I did watch this one. I looked forward to it each week. Disappointed that it was canceled:( I hope someone else picks it up. I’d love to see where the show was going. Great actors and actresses too!
I’m so upset!! I really hope they decide to renew or someone else picks it up. This has become one of my favorite shows.
A slightly different and unusual story line, intrigued with twists and suspense. Please bring The Family back for another season
So many amazing shows have been cancelled, shows that EVERYONE I know watches and loves, after this I am ready to get rid of my t.v.!!? How do all the crap shows keep going and great shows get cancelled, something is very wrong with the ratings system
Can’t believe this is cancelled!! This is one program we really followed – and so many ending cliff hangers! Aarrgghhhhh
Please – someone- pick up for Season 2!
