The Family stars Joan Allen stars as Claire Warren, Alison Pill as Willa Warren, Rupert Graves as John Warren, and Zach Gilford as Danny Warren. Margot Bingham is Detective Nina Meyer. Liam James is Ben/Adam Warren. Andrew McCarthy is Hank Asher. Floriana Lima is Bridey Cruz. Young Willa and Danny are played by Madeleine Arthur and Rarmian Newton.

Claire finally realizes what Adam and Ben endured when she visits the hell hole-like tomb where they were kept, exploding with grief, anger and frustration. Meanwhile Jane looks to make a getaway as Nina closes in on Doug’s location, and Agent Clements’ time is running out. Hank comes face to face with his inner demons, and one phone call shatters Ben’s world, forcing him to tackle an uncertain destiny.

The Family was canceled due to low ratings. As of the May 8th episode, the series averaged 0.83 in the 18-49 year-old viewer demographic and drew an average total audience of 3.276 million viewers. We have been tracking 25 scripted ABC series during the 2015-16 television season. Those numbers leave The Family ranked 21st out of 25, when sorted by both the demo and total average audience.

ABC cancelled The Family on Thursday, May 12, 2016, so this first season finale was not written as an intentional TV series finale. If the audience will get sufficient closure or satisfaction from “What Took So Long,” remains to be seen.

Maybe Netflix or hulu will pick his great show up. I wish the writers had given some clue that Adam was alive maybe the ratings would have been better.
I don’t understand why it’s being cancelled. I guess all i can do is hope and let other people know how amazing this show really is. I don’t watch many shows, but this one is something special and if ABC could not see that, that’s just sad. Other shows can get so many seasons but this show can’t even get 2, why? I think this is the best show i have ever seen, for real.

This is truly disappointing news! This was a suspenseful, and well written show. I also enjoyed how well developed the characters were after only a short time. Please consider bringing it back.

My family has thoroughly enjoyed The Family and were disappointed to learn there will not be a Season 2. Hopefully you will change this decision and bring us a second season.
Just watched the last episode (in NZ). I can’t believe there’s not going to be another season!!!! I loved it and the ending leaves so many unanswered questions. I need to know what really happened to Adam! Bring back The Family.

that was a stupid move, on cancelling this fascinating show, everyone knows that every shows first year gets low ratings, but on it’s second year the story lines get more juicier with bigger plots to all it’s stories to charge up the family show’s rating forward, what shameful act on you for it’s cancellation of these folks bright future, that came to such a great cliff hanger & we shall never know more about what their future holds, I as a screen writer, would have love to have been apart of your writing team & give the family cast, a… Read more »
I am so bummed they cancelled. My co workers and I were so into this show. We couldn’t wait for the next episode to air. So sad this was canceled.
Really abc? First Nashville then The Family. You just leave ppl hanging, I need to know what happened to Adam. You can’t just get ppl hooked and then cancel. Very upset fan. This is why I don’t start new shows any more cause I get hooked and you cancel.

this has been one of the best tv series I have seen in a long time. I am so disappointed this was cancelled.
I am so disappointef the show was cancelled.i actually just found out. I thought it was very good. It kept me always guessing and I couldn’t wait for the next week to come. The finale left me barely being able to wait for next season. Now I find out that is not coming 🙁
