Liam James is Ben/Adam Warren. Andrew McCarthy is Hank Asher. Floriana Lima is Bridey Cruz. Young Willa and Danny are played by Madeleine Arthur and Rarmian Newton.

Claire finally realizes what Adam and Ben endured when she visits the hell hole-like tomb where they were kept, exploding with grief, anger and frustration. Meanwhile Jane looks to make a getaway as Nina closes in on Doug’s location, and Agent Clements’ time is running out. Hank comes face to face with his inner demons, and one phone call shatters Ben’s world, forcing him to tackle an uncertain destiny.

The Family was canceled due to low ratings. As of the May 8th episode, the series averaged 0.83 in the 18-49 year-old viewer demographic and drew an average total audience of 3.276 million viewers. We have been tracking 25 scripted ABC series during the 2015-16 television season. Those numbers leave The Family ranked 21st out of 25, when sorted by both the demo and total average audience.

ABC cancelled The Family on Thursday, May 12, 2016, so this first season finale was not written as an intentional TV series finale. If the audience will get sufficient closure or satisfaction from “What Took So Long,” remains to be seen.

I have been watching from the beginning. Fully engrossed. ABC dies this all the time, a few episodes then gone. Very disappointing. Willcwatch a different network, one that starts a series and continues…

I have watched every episode and found it to be excellent! A real thriller with modern day reality! I am so upset that this finale was really just an abrupt ending to a great series!

Unbelievable ! Have not missed an episode and now it’s being cancelled…..and then even worse to leave us hanging with too many questions unanswered in the “SEASON” finale. DAMN !!
I am incredibly annoyed by this cancellation my mother and I followed this religiously and were very captivated by it and for it to be left with such a cliff hanger was horrible to do to the audience following it
I think the family should be picked up by a different station because it was a great show and left us hanging! Please someone else take season 2.

I so agree! I loved the suspense. It wasn’t predictable like the critics said it would be after the first episode. The critics help set it up for failure by dumping all over it before it was given a chance. I loved it and thought the acting was great! I’m really disappointed, especially after seeing the finale. They had no way of knowing they would be cancelled when it was filmed, so they didn’t leave us in suspense like that on purpose. A second season would have been awesome. I’m bummed for sure.

So wrong to end series. Not to many good shows on television to begin with. I looked forward to watching this very i intriguing show. Please bring it back. Thank you

Definitely renew it. These tv stations don’t give shows a chance. This show is smart with twists and turns. It keeps you guessing every week. We don’t need another stupid reality show or game show.
