Liam James is Ben/Adam Warren. Andrew McCarthy is Hank Asher. Floriana Lima is Bridey Cruz. Young Willa and Danny are played by Madeleine Arthur and Rarmian Newton.

Claire finally realizes what Adam and Ben endured when she visits the hell hole-like tomb where they were kept, exploding with grief, anger and frustration. Meanwhile Jane looks to make a getaway as Nina closes in on Doug’s location, and Agent Clements’ time is running out. Hank comes face to face with his inner demons, and one phone call shatters Ben’s world, forcing him to tackle an uncertain destiny.

The Family was canceled due to low ratings. As of the May 8th episode, the series averaged 0.83 in the 18-49 year-old viewer demographic and drew an average total audience of 3.276 million viewers. We have been tracking 25 scripted ABC series during the 2015-16 television season. Those numbers leave The Family ranked 21st out of 25, when sorted by both the demo and total average audience.

ABC cancelled The Family on Thursday, May 12, 2016, so this first season finale was not written as an intentional TV series finale. If the audience will get sufficient closure or satisfaction from “What Took So Long,” remains to be seen.

I can’t believe it has been cancelled. Just finished the “final” episode and it leaves you wanting so much more!! This great show is cancelled while other crap continues to go on and on.
The family can not end like that. We need another season or closure!!! I’m tired of getting involved in new shows because they always get cancelled .

I can’t believe they canceled this show!! I want to know how it went down with Adam getting to go with doug wife! Who killed the reporter…where’s Danny!?!? Is Adam coming back!?!?
Disappointed to say the least..this show had me on the edge of my seat most episodes..I am thoroughly disappointed and shocked that they cancelled..tonight’s episode left me wanting more..I just hope someone else picks it up or ABC comes to their senses!!

My mom and I rarely watch tv but we enjoyed this show A lot. We loved the cliff hangers every week. They canceled without telling us how Adam lived or how Ben finds his mom. I am so upset with ABC and their decisions
I am extremely disappointed in the cancellation of the Family. Fantastic writing and storyline made this one of the best series I’ve seen come out in years. The finale definitely left us wanting more. Why not switch the time slot? Or change networks.
