TV show description:
A fantasy crime drama, this TV series follows New York City’s star medical examiner — Doctor Henry Morgan (Ioan Gruffudd), handsome man with a secret past. No matter how hard he tries, Henry can’t age even a single day — he’s immortal. He doesn’t know much about what happens when he “dies” except that everything on him disappears and he reemerges in a body of water, naked.
Henry doesn’t just study the dead to solve criminal cases however. He does it to try to solve the mystery that has eluded him for 200 years — the reason for his own inexplicable immortality.
Henry’s long life has given him remarkable observation skills which impresses his new partner, Detective Jo Martinez (Alana De La Garza). This piques her curiosity about who he is. Each new case and their budding friendship reveal layers of Henry’s long and colorful past. Jo’s sharp, no-nonsense instincts and her ability to close difficult cases have given her a tough-as-nails reputation on the force, despite also dealing with the untimely loss of her husband.
Lucas Wan (Joel David Moore) is a twenty-something self-proclaimed “artisan of death” and Henry’s worshipful assistant. He considers mortuary science an art, and Henry its Picasso. After transplanting to New York City from rural Ohio, Lucas worked up the courage to introduce himself to the star medical examiner at a crime scene.
A Brooklyn native, Detective Hanson (Donnie Keshawarz) works alongside Jo and has worked his way up to the NYPD’s elite squad of homicide detectives. He’s a family man who lives with his wife and two children in Queens. Unafraid of bending the rules to get the job done, Hanson is sometimes skeptical of Henry’s talent but often admires its effectiveness.
No one knows Henry better than his best friend and confidant, an antique shop owner named Abe (Judd Hirsch). The keeper of Henry’s immortality secret, Abe’s “carpe diem” philosophy inspires Henry to get more in touch with the beauty of living. Abe is not immortal but he is determined to make the most out of every moment of life.
Episode #22 — The Last Death of Henry Morgan
Henry and Adam have been on a long, unrelenting collision course, which is about to come to a head – possibly bringing about one man’s death – with only Jo standing in the way. Henry and Jo’s murder investigation into a museum worker’s death centers on a priceless missing ancient dagger, which not only ended the life of Julius Caesar, but also killed Adam the first time.
Meanwhile, Adam knows that there is something that Henry fears more than death – that Jo might discover his mystery. The two men tangle in a tumultuous game-changing confrontation.
First aired: May 5, 2015.
What do you think? Do you like the Forever TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
I can think of a dozen ABC shows that warrant cancellation. Forever is not on that list. This show is a keeper with a seemingly loyal following (thanks to everyone posting about this show-keep the post coming). This show is a keeper. It made it through the first season (unlike some other shows) and I am looking forward to another season (seems that a lot of other people are too). Please ABC, make a wise business decision bring Forever back for another season. I’ll be watching!
I love this program, and this is one of very few I will DVR if I am not able to be home. Others I could care less if I miss, but not this one. The characters, story line…everything about the program is good. I know asking for this series to not be canceled is wasting my time, but it would be nice to give it another season and let it have a chance so more people can have an opportunity to see and appreciate it.
What?! Who decided to cancel this show? Do they even watch it? Watching Forever on Tuesday nights was quality time that I set aside for myself to escape the reality of a crazy busy work week. I find the show refreshing and extremely interesting. Learning that the show is being cancelled compares the sudden news of a close friend having died unexpectedly. Please bring this show back for at least one more season.
This was quality show with fine actors and an interesting premise. I watched every episode. You really should have given this a chance given the second rate garbage that litters most of the TV schedule. Each character was well drawn and Henry had a rare combination of humor, pathos, medical insight, and the ability to make us feel the emotions and dilemmas of a man in his situation. You succeeded in an adult drama with a light touch. And likely you will replace it with something second rate that will too be cancelled I value my privacy so my name… Read more »
Loved the show! Never missed an episode. I wish they would give it a chance for one more season.
One of the best shows this season, VERY sad that it was cancelled. Out of the MANY bad shows this year, FOREVER was not one of them. ABC cancelling this show was a BIG mistake.
Well ABC you’ve done it again I think this is the last straw, I’ve decided to boycott ABC I’m removing it from my TV family.
You should have given it at least one more season.
This show was fun, fascinating, and clever. I found the characters to be some of the best I’ve seen in awhile. Please please please bring this back-such a breath of fresh air in a boring & limited market!
How disappointing. Forever was one of those bright spots in an otherwise a desert of t.v. programs and endless ads. Its a problem that continues to repeat itself the past few years. Good programs like this that people invest their time and interest in get cancelled while the waste continues to clog the pipes. Is it any surprise that people are cutting cords and dropping television all together? Chasing away loyal viewers for the masses that will flutter away in a gust of wind is bad choice, as the choice was to cancel this series.
bring back this show. we have elementry wich is just like this show. i have been waiting all season for jo to find out his secret and it happens right at the very end and then you go and cancel the show. bring it back and give it at least 1 more season to see if it picks back up please.
I generally hate ABC shows… this was my one show with ABC. The one show of the week I was always sure to watch. It was great show! Nice story line, good acting, a good family show. ABC. This is VERY disappointing. I’m done with ABC.
This is a GREAT show with unlimited story line possiblities. Bring it back- Please!
Change your mind about taking off the air.
I am truly upset that one of the only shows I actually watched on TV has been canceled. Tuesday was a wonderful night for family TV until I heard of Forever’s cancellation. Hoping ABC would reconsider and renew for another season or few…
Forever can not only be eerie, exciting and potentially romantic, it is sweet, innocent (by today’s tv standard) and just plain enjoyable. Oh, I hope they change their minds at ABC.
My daughter and I loved the show. This was our weekly thing. Please reconsider cancelling the show.
