TV show description:
A fantasy crime drama, this TV series follows New York City’s star medical examiner — Doctor Henry Morgan (Ioan Gruffudd), handsome man with a secret past. No matter how hard he tries, Henry can’t age even a single day — he’s immortal. He doesn’t know much about what happens when he “dies” except that everything on him disappears and he reemerges in a body of water, naked.
Henry doesn’t just study the dead to solve criminal cases however. He does it to try to solve the mystery that has eluded him for 200 years — the reason for his own inexplicable immortality.
Henry’s long life has given him remarkable observation skills which impresses his new partner, Detective Jo Martinez (Alana De La Garza). This piques her curiosity about who he is. Each new case and their budding friendship reveal layers of Henry’s long and colorful past. Jo’s sharp, no-nonsense instincts and her ability to close difficult cases have given her a tough-as-nails reputation on the force, despite also dealing with the untimely loss of her husband.
Lucas Wan (Joel David Moore) is a twenty-something self-proclaimed “artisan of death” and Henry’s worshipful assistant. He considers mortuary science an art, and Henry its Picasso. After transplanting to New York City from rural Ohio, Lucas worked up the courage to introduce himself to the star medical examiner at a crime scene.
A Brooklyn native, Detective Hanson (Donnie Keshawarz) works alongside Jo and has worked his way up to the NYPD’s elite squad of homicide detectives. He’s a family man who lives with his wife and two children in Queens. Unafraid of bending the rules to get the job done, Hanson is sometimes skeptical of Henry’s talent but often admires its effectiveness.
No one knows Henry better than his best friend and confidant, an antique shop owner named Abe (Judd Hirsch). The keeper of Henry’s immortality secret, Abe’s “carpe diem” philosophy inspires Henry to get more in touch with the beauty of living. Abe is not immortal but he is determined to make the most out of every moment of life.
Episode #22 — The Last Death of Henry Morgan
Henry and Adam have been on a long, unrelenting collision course, which is about to come to a head – possibly bringing about one man’s death – with only Jo standing in the way. Henry and Jo’s murder investigation into a museum worker’s death centers on a priceless missing ancient dagger, which not only ended the life of Julius Caesar, but also killed Adam the first time.
Meanwhile, Adam knows that there is something that Henry fears more than death – that Jo might discover his mystery. The two men tangle in a tumultuous game-changing confrontation.
First aired: May 5, 2015.
What do you think? Do you like the Forever TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Loved the show. Can’t believe it is gone when so much of the so called “reality tv” remains on.
i am disabled and i looked forward to this show. i am heartbroken because of its cancelled.
please see what you can do about it. thanks for everthing you can do
This is/was one of the better shows to watch on TV. It is too bad that networks cannot see the value in a series until it is too late. I was a faithful watcher.
This is one of the BEST shows on TV….what is wrong with ABC……….they keep “Galavant” and cancel Forever……….my sisters, m neighbors, my husband…..we all LOVE the show FOREVER………….it should be renewed without a second thought….
I can’t believe Forever was cancelled! I love that show! This really makes me feel like not watching TV shows anymore to avoid this disappointment in the future. And yet the Simpsons was picked up for season 28 as well as those mind numbing reality shows! Ugh! Execs, bring Forever back for at least season two so the writers can wrap it up at the end instead of leaving the loyal fans hanging!
This IS a GREAT series and anyone who would cancel this and leave all of these TRASH reality programs on should be fired . These dating, poor example lawyers kids and naked survival programs are CRAP and more and more dumb celebrity family shows keep showing up to give kids wrong ideas. At least this program was interesting, no one was sleeping with EVERYBODY. Maybe some people can’t watch it when aired for RATINGS but that is what on-demand is for.
ABC was my favorite network. WAS! I don’t watch that much TV but I will not watch any more of there shows, Forever was the only show that I have enjoyed since Pushing Daisies and Samantha Who. What a joke. In the old days a series started on a certain night and every week you knew what time and day the show would be on. How can any new show survive today when they air weeks between episodes. ABC Two Thumbs down
I have barely slept since the heartbreaking news of the cancellation. This was my favorite show of all time and I couldn’t wait for Tuesdays to come. I watched and recorded every episode, seen them all multiple times. I’m not surprised that it was canceled. It is far too intelligent, well acted, witty, sad, beautiful, elegant, insightful and just plain wonderful for the vast majority of dumb and dumber american idiots to appreciate. It is more fervent hope that a classier network like A & E or SYFY or TNT or a sservice like HULU or NETFLIX will be smart… Read more »
Why do they keep shows like “Last Man Standing” and get rid of shows like Forever and Almost Human?
I hate when they get rid of my favorite shows.
I guess it keeps me from watching too much television
Absolutely gutted. My hubby and I love watching Forever. Superb overarching idea and brilliant individual stories for each episode not to mention Ioan Gruffudd !!!
Please can another network take over this show and give us a second season. I need to see Henry explain to Jo his immortality
So very disappointed to learn of this cancellation. Why is it that the good shows get cancelled and we are left with mindless, uninteresting pablum? Forever was quirky, unpredictable, and ……OMG Entertaining! Maybe network executives should look back at the ratings of a little show called M•A S H
Forever is an awesome show. Not quite sure why is canceling . We love the show and was looking forward to another season. It’s a fresh light hearted show . It has a second story line that you could create and go a few ways. So diassapointed in losing such a great show.
why is this show cancelled? This was my favorite show!!! I watched it every Tuesday night!! try seeing if TNT, AE&E,TBS or any other networks will do it! please do a season two! there is not another show like this out there! If you are worried about views, don’t be because lots of people watch it!!! I GUARANTEE YOU WON’T BE SORRY.
I love the show, it’s makes no sense to cancel
It seems like the networks decide which shows to cancel by making a list of my favorites.
“Forever” is a great show. Excellent writing and acting. A little out of the mainstream, but what’s wrong with that?
Same for “Backstrom.”
Unless these well-crafted shows get picked up elsewhere, I guess I’ll be watching more Netflix reruns. Good call, networks.
All of the fans on the FB page called ‘Forever (ABC) Fan Page are calling Netflix. The representives at Netflix are very nice and directing ask about what show you would like them to consider. Also, a lot of the representatives have said that the call volume for the show ‘Forever’ to be picked up by Netflix has been overwhelming. And all of those suggestions are being sent to the programming department. So please, everyone, call Netflix and talk to a customer service agent. Tell them you want ‘Forever’ on Netflix…
