TV show description:
A fantasy crime drama, this TV series follows New York City’s star medical examiner — Doctor Henry Morgan (Ioan Gruffudd), handsome man with a secret past. No matter how hard he tries, Henry can’t age even a single day — he’s immortal. He doesn’t know much about what happens when he “dies” except that everything on him disappears and he reemerges in a body of water, naked.
Henry doesn’t just study the dead to solve criminal cases however. He does it to try to solve the mystery that has eluded him for 200 years — the reason for his own inexplicable immortality.
Henry’s long life has given him remarkable observation skills which impresses his new partner, Detective Jo Martinez (Alana De La Garza). This piques her curiosity about who he is. Each new case and their budding friendship reveal layers of Henry’s long and colorful past. Jo’s sharp, no-nonsense instincts and her ability to close difficult cases have given her a tough-as-nails reputation on the force, despite also dealing with the untimely loss of her husband.
Lucas Wan (Joel David Moore) is a twenty-something self-proclaimed “artisan of death” and Henry’s worshipful assistant. He considers mortuary science an art, and Henry its Picasso. After transplanting to New York City from rural Ohio, Lucas worked up the courage to introduce himself to the star medical examiner at a crime scene.
A Brooklyn native, Detective Hanson (Donnie Keshawarz) works alongside Jo and has worked his way up to the NYPD’s elite squad of homicide detectives. He’s a family man who lives with his wife and two children in Queens. Unafraid of bending the rules to get the job done, Hanson is sometimes skeptical of Henry’s talent but often admires its effectiveness.
No one knows Henry better than his best friend and confidant, an antique shop owner named Abe (Judd Hirsch). The keeper of Henry’s immortality secret, Abe’s “carpe diem” philosophy inspires Henry to get more in touch with the beauty of living. Abe is not immortal but he is determined to make the most out of every moment of life.
Episode #22 — The Last Death of Henry Morgan
Henry and Adam have been on a long, unrelenting collision course, which is about to come to a head – possibly bringing about one man’s death – with only Jo standing in the way. Henry and Jo’s murder investigation into a museum worker’s death centers on a priceless missing ancient dagger, which not only ended the life of Julius Caesar, but also killed Adam the first time.
Meanwhile, Adam knows that there is something that Henry fears more than death – that Jo might discover his mystery. The two men tangle in a tumultuous game-changing confrontation.
First aired: May 5, 2015.
What do you think? Do you like the Forever TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
I knew Forever would be cancelled because it was too good of a show to last. The drivel that is on most days is the reason our family buys movies. We rarely watch the lower channels because there is very little entertainment available and way too ridiculous shows without talent or real humor. I suppose it would have been renewed if each scene was full of sex and nudity.
This was a great show, clean, good story line, excellent acting. I am disappointed that it was cancelled. There are so many ridiculous shows that continue, including what is called ‘reality’ shows, and this very good show gets cancelled. I hope ABC will reconsider and bring it back for another season.
I guess it was just too “clean” for the young people who like the sex/violence crapola. Older people, like myself, appreciate good drama. It’s the dumbing down of TV along with the dumbing down of society in general.
I agree completely with the comment Sharon Alexander posted, so I’ll just restate it here. Please reconsider your decision to cancel this program. From a previous posting: I don’t want to see yet another decent show cancelled while something as foolish as the Bachelor or the any of the other idiotic drivel stays on the air. They keep wife swap and cancel a drama with great acting and chemistry between the players . I think it goes to show the intelligence of those in Hollywood making these decisions. I wonder if they would like their wives to join the ranks… Read more »
I can’t understand how such a good show like Forever could be cancelled & then you bring back a show called “Mistresses” that I cringe to even hear the title of no less the story lines. And more over a 2 hour opener! What is wrong with you people? You have a fine show in Forever that has such good story lines & is actually a clean show the whole family could watch & not have to cringe at the language or the steamy love scenes. Can’t we decent people have a show we can enjoy? Great cast , great… Read more »
I don’t think Forever should have been cancelled. It is a very interesting show with a lot of humour. I love the strong connection between Henry and Abraham. The acting was great and the flashbacks were really interesting. Really disappointed that it wasn’t renewed.
I’m very disappointed this show was cancelled. It was definitely one the entire family looked forward to sitting down watching each week. With some of the garbage on TV these days, it’s a shame the producers couldn’t give this one a little more time to realize a return on their investment. I hope they’ll reconsider their decision and give it at least another half season to redeem itself.
I thought this was one of the best shows on television and am very disappointed that this quality program has been cancelled. The characters were delightful and the premise was clever and well written. This is sad news indeed.
Why was such an unique idea with creative writing and exceptional actors cancelled?
We loved this show.
THIS IS A GREAT SHOW , GREAT ACTING , The show is better than most , very interesting , please keep these kinds of shows on, I am sooooooooo tired of those reality shows and over sexed shows that families with children can’t even watch. This show has
quality actors and a good plot there is so very few shows like that anymore. So be smart keep this show around and give the your audience something good to watch next season.
A great entertaining show I could watch with my teenagers. We were all looking forward to seeing it develop in season 2. Such a disappointment!
Lame lame lame! Forever was freaking awesome! And it was finally a show I could watch with my kids within earshot of the TV. I’m extremely disappointed.
This was a refreshing new show that I was really looking forward to see come back even better then Castle. I’m tired of all reality shows and stupid comedy show that have no interest.
They should not cancel this program.
Why do all the really good shows, like Forever, get cancelled? I liked it from the very first show. The acting is better than most of the shows and it has an interesting and unique story-line. So sick of those stupid reality shows where everyone is just out for themselves, or the dumb comedies where everything revolves around sex and stupid put downs. Give Forever another chance!
I don’t want to see yet another decent show cancelled while something as foolish as the Bachelor or the any of the other idiotic drivel stays on the air. They keep wife swap and cancel a drama with great acting and chemistry between the players . I think it goes to show the intelligence of those in Hollywood making these decisions. I wonder if they would like their wives to join the ranks of celebrity wife swap.
