In its pursuit to find shows with better ratings, CBS has cancelled Friends with Better Lives, the new Monday night sitcom.
Friends with Better Lives follows the lives of six young people who are at various stages of their lives — married, divorced, newly engaged, and single — with each wondering if the others have it better. The cast includes Majandra Delfino, Kevin Connolly, Brooklyn Decker, Rick Donald, Zoe Lister-Jones, and James Van Der Beek.
This new sitcom debuted at the end of March, following the series finale of How I Met Your Mother. Not surprisingly, it drew solid ratings.
Unfortunately, when Friends with Better Lives returned in its regular timeslot a couple weeks later, viewership dropped more than 25%.
The ratings dropped lower after that and the most recent installment hit a series low with a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demograpjic with 4.92 million viewers. For CBS, that just won’t cut it.
The network ordered 13 episodes of the sitcom and five have aired so far. Two more are still on the schedule so it’s unclear right now if the network will end up releasing the rest.
What do you think? Do you think that CBS should have cancelled Friends with Better Lives or renewed it for a second season instead? Will you keep watching?
Funniest show on TV! Please don’t cancel it.
#FWBL is one of the best shows, I believe this is gonna blow ratings if they gave it the chance…
Loved this show ..
finally a witty funny adult comedy and CBS is tossing it? Another reason Not to watch CBS.
Not a funny show. I couldn’t take a full episode of it.
FWBL is a well written show. I think that it would do better in HIMYM’s time slot. I think CBS should put on about 15 more forensic science shows instead. CSI: Palookaville hasn’t been tried yet.
work two jobs, look forward to coming home and viewing a clever, lighthearted comedy – oh yeah, with a solid, talented cast like on Friends With Better Lives!! don’t want to see more crime, more drama, more reality tv, more football!! here in the midwest, it’s spring! what 18 yr. old is sitting inside after the winter we’ve had? FWBL would do just great with an adult audience – given the chance. funny show, hope another network picks it up!!
So bummed!! I just started watching this show a week ago! I loved it and caught up on all the episodes I missed…and now it’s cancelled?!?!?!? It seems like these days they don’t even give shows a chance!
I loved Friends with better lives. Great cast! CBS should give it a chance. Many successful sitcoms take time to find an audience. CBS should show the entire 13 episodes and renew
This and The Big Bang Theory are the only two shows I watch on CBS. Now I’m down to just one. This tends to happen when the morons in charge change up the time slot on a show.
James van den beek finally comes back to tv and they cancel him….not cool.
With CBS cancelling all these shows why don’t they bring back Vegas, which was a great series with Dennis Quaid…………..
Why is CBS so stupid? first they cancel the Crazy Ones, and now this? I agree with Jessica and I also think The Millers should have been the ones canceled, with that irritating, overbearing , possessive a—- of a mother. And the ADULT son is such a whimp The whole bunch is sooooo annoying.
I really liked this show what the hell?! And canceling The Crazy Ones as well? This news ruined my day.
Really CBS? This show was funnier than HIMYM! This is so stupid.
