With two weeks to go before the network upfronts, we have some long-awaited and sad news regarding the fate of CW’s Gilmore Girls.
The CW has released a joint statement from the network and Warner Bros. Television that says “Announcing the final season of Gilmore Girls is truly a sad moment for everyone at The CW and Warner Bros. Television. This series helped define a network and created a fantastic, storybook world featuring some of television’s most memorable, lovable characters. We thank Amy Sherman-Palladino, Dan Palladino, Dave Rosenthal, the amazing cast led by Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel as well as the producers, writers and crew for giving us this delightful gem for the past seven years. We would also like to thank the critics and Gilmore fans for their passionate support and promise to give this series the send off it deserves.”
Rumors have gone back and forth for months on whether an agreement could be reached with key cast members so that Gilmore Girls could return for another season. There was even a rumor earlier today that negotiations had stalled and it looked unlikely that they would resume. It appears that rumor was true.
Once sure that the series was not returning, CW likely wanted to announce the news immediately so that viewers would be more likely to tune in to watch the final two episodes.
Will the series finale on May 15th be a fulfilling way to close the series? Does this ensure that CW’s Veronica Mars will be renewed? Stay tuned! 
I really can`t believe it!!! I mean, the gilmore girls show can`t be over!!!! If it were, people in charge should definitely do something about it! I still have hopes.
did I just hear correctly, I was half asleep, but could have sworn I just heard TV say, “final season of Gilmour Girls premiers” then I jumped out of bed and hit this web site….. I am soooooo ticked, it was one of the very few shows I enjoyed and looked forward to on a weekly basis…. now nothing…….crap on TV, who made this decision? they obviously don’t know their job very well. Everyone I know or talked to was an avid watcher?? what gives ??
I miss Gilmore Girls! It is not the same – knowing they will not be back. You guys must be crazy to take them off! I will not watch your station anymore and I know at least 10 that feel the same way. We are all G.G. fans including my daughter. I am sure you have lost alot of viewers because of this. Bad decision! very very sad!!!
It was about time Gilmore Girls was cancelled. I, too, am a huge fan. I watched Gilmore Girls since day 1. However, the story lines and dialogues have gone downhill since the beginning of Episode 7. It felt like they had no more stories left and just kept writing scenes that would fill up the one hour show. Characters were undeveloped. Lane…Sukie…Paris…the grandparents…there could’ve been more stories regarding these characters. It was better off that they cancel the series than drag it on another season that will have uncreative, “blah” stories.
what??? gilmore girls is my favorite show….at least another half season, they should go to ten seasons like friends! i miss it…and whats up with luke and lorelai not getting married…at least rory and logan should…this makes me so MAD!!! PLEASE PUT IT BACK ON!
I dont know if this message will be read by the right people (meaning those who can decide). I’m writing from Italy, and believe me, our TV is basically crap, full of reality shows and stuff like that. Gilmore Girls is definitely one of the best TV shows I have ever seen, miles away from the crap we see over here. That´s so unfair. Not just that Gilmore Girls is worldwide the most successful show…even that it just got 7 seasons. Even one more season would not be enough. Gilmore Girls is even more successful than 7th Heaven (11 seasons), so Gilmore Girls deserves more than 11 seasons. I wished Amy Sherman and her husband never had left the show because then that never happened.They had filmed Gilmore Girls untill season 12. COME ON LET THERE BE A EIGHTH SEASON!!! Gilmore girls is one of my favorite shows i want to see at least one more wedding and i think everyone knows who. THIS IS SO STUPID. WHY are you guys canceling a wonderful show…Emily is finally excepting Lorelai and Luke as a couple now and the writers are ruining it so please guys try realy hard so that there can be an eighth season

This is so bad. This is one of the few shows out there that are good and you are taking it off the air. I love gilmore girls. It helped me through so much in my life. I even named my daughter Lorelai. Please bring Gilmore Girls back.
After all these years what a let down, I have to plan dinner for exactly 8:00 tues. so the entire faminty has dinner togerher and watches Gilmour Girls. Sorry but, Luke and lauralei should have married. The last season the writers let the show down. One week there woulkd be a new episode then a repeat the next week, this went on for several weeks, Jan,Feb,+. WOW…I had no idea that Gilmore Girls was no longer going to continue….I mean what the h…or who the h…would do this to such a great series? This show taught so much about growing up…I mean I have been watching the show since I was like 12 I’m almost 20 now..I mean I haven’t seen the last season due to not getting the channel…but now I get it and those fools are canceling it…WOW…that is all I have to say except I hope the idiots who decided to cancel the show never work again for fear of canceling another great… Read more »

I think that gilmore girls is clearly the best show ever and people who cancel it will regret it when the viewers stop responding to the channel …..gilmore girls made the cw big, the show gilmore girls is the show that will live on and the characters reach into the lives of people and really help mold us. we need to remember that gilmore girls is a way to watch tv. KEEP IT GOING
