Last night, FOX aired the Gracepoint finale which wrapped up the mystery of who killed Danny Solano. What’s next?
Gracepoint begins when a young boy is found dead on an idyllic beach in the small northern California town of Gracepoint. The tragedy and media frenzy soon turns neighbor against neighbor as the police try to figure out what happened. The cast includes David Tennant, Anna Gunn, Michael Peña, Virginia Kull, Madalyn Horcher, Kendrick Sampson, Nick Nolte, Jacki Weaver, Kevin Rankin, Sarah-Jane Potts, Stephen Louis Grush, Kevin Zegers, Jessica Lucas, and Nikolas Filipovic.
As fans know all too well, the ratings for Gracepoint have been very poor all season. It looked like the network might pull the series — or at least ship it to Saturday nights — but FOX let all 10 episodes run on Thursday nights.
Gracepoint was billed as a “limited series” but that designation doesn’t seem to mean too much these days. If a show is a ratings success, networks will find a way to keep a show going. If it’s a bomb, limited series or not, a show’s going to be cancelled.
In a recent interview, showrunner Anya Epstein said that last night’s episode wasn’t intended to be a series finale. Broadchurch (the UK show that Gracepoint is based on) was renewed for a second season and the feeling was that Gracepoint could return as well.
Epstein notes, “It was not meant to be self-contained and we have a lot of ideas and a lot of excitement about where it could go. It remains to be seen whether we’ll get a chance to actually do that. It doesn’t seem terribly likely at the moment.”
Since Gracepoint is all-but guaranteed to be cancelled, hopefully the writers will share what they had in mind for season two at some point in the future.
UPDATE: FOX has officiually cancelled the series but…
What do you think? Would you watch a second season of Gracepoint? Were you satisfied with the finale?
Yes hope they do bring it back. Me an my daughter couldn’t wait for Thursday night we love mystery shows. We try to figure it out. 🙂 🙂
I so wish there was going to be a second season. I love this tv show <3
Yes bring it back looked forward to watching it every week. Left you waiting for what would happen next.
I loved this show and am hoping there will be a season two. I thought it was very suspenseful, and was happy they achieved that with good story line. I’m glad they didn’t feel the need to cheapen the show with foul language & scantily dressed women. So many otherwise good shows are ruined by that, or by feeling the need to promote promiscuity.
Love it, love, love it
Just recently found this show and watched it all online. Really enjoyed it and its one of the only plots i didnt figure out. Such a surprise whodoneit! I would love another season.
We looked forward to it every week. Our family was glad to find a true mystery hat met us guessing until the very end. We would love to have a second season.
I loved the series and I feel there is a lot more to add to the story line ,I hope the network will pick it up for a season 2 with maybe more episodes added.
I would love to see it back. What’s next for these characters? I loved the show, can’t put my finger on it, but the style was great.
Loved it, left me wanting more.
Bring it back! Looked forward to Thursdays nights!
Please give us a second season of this excellent mystery with a wonderful cast. Exceptional program well worth watching.
Absolutely BRING IT BACK !
Bring it back, for Pete’s sake! Loved it and made sure I was glued to the TV every Thursday or that I set it to record. I watched episodes nine and ten again last night, taking notes to see the possibilities for another season. Acting was great! Bring it on, producers!

Loved it & really want a season 2. Gracepoint was full of great actors & the story kept me on edge every week. Ratings weren’t good because of the time slot. Period. Best fall show for me.
Only good bit was the final couple of minutes. If they had made a show about that, it would have been good, but sorry, Gracepoint was 10 pointless weeks. I’m afraid having the leads only bringing their A game to the last frames does not justify leaving this in the reject bin where it belongs.
I am a hard person to please when it comes to tv shows. I absolutely loved Gracepoint I was working everytime iy cane on but I just couldnt wait to get home and watch it on (ondemand) I am extremely disappointed in finding out there most likely wont be a season 2. But its not the first time television has failed my my idealistic thought of a great series.
