Greenleaf has a new star. Deadline reports Patti LaBelle will recur on season three of the OWN TV show.
The drama explores the unscrupulous world of the Greenleaf family and their sprawling Memphis megachurch. The cast includes Keith David, Lynn Whitfield, Lamman Rucker, Kim Hawthorne, Lovie Simone, Merle Dandridge, Desiree Ross, Deborah Joy Winans, Tye White, GregAlan Williams, Benjamin Patterson, Anna Diop, Terri J. Vaughn, and Oprah Winfrey.
On Greenleaf, LaBelle will play “Maxine Patterson, a famous Christian motivational speaker and the CEO of a global Christian self-help empire.” OWN has not yet announced a premiere date for season three.

Each season seems to end so abruptly; we have to then wait for ages for the next one. Lynn Whitfield is superb as Lady Mae.
