Sad news for Grimm fans. Deadline reports the NBC series will end after its upcoming sixth season.
The drama follows homicide detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli), who is charged with protecting humans from supernatural creatures. The cast also includes Russell Hornsby, Silas Weir Mitchell, Reggie Lee, Sasha Roiz, Bree Turner, and Claire Coffee.
Rumors that this would be Grimm’s final season have circulated since NBC only ordered 13 episodes for season six and Giuntoli said it could be the last season. Ratings for the series have never been particularly high. Season five received an average of only .89 in the 18-49 demo and 3.943 million viewers.
Season six of Grimm is slated to premiere on January 6th at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
From NBC:
“GRIMM”: The final season begins Friday, Jan. 6, 8-9 p.m.
Closing out an incredibly successful series run and giving viewers a chance to say goodbye over the last 13 episodes, the sixth and final season of NBC’s drama “Grimm” will begin its last chapter with the battle fans have long been waiting for — Nick versus Capt. Renard.
The series, which reached the 100-episode milestone last season, has long been a fan and critical favorite, with the Los Angeles Times calling it “terrific and trendsetting… ‘Grimm’ has become a beacon of solid narrative and a weekly reminder of why monsters matter.” The New York Times said “Grimm” is “engaging, clever, tense, funny and well-paced, featuring a remarkably appealing cast.”
As for events leading into the final season, the nefarious forces of Black Claw have been silenced and Nick (David Giuntoli) faces an all too familiar foe in Capt. Sean Renard (Sasha Roiz). Now in the seat of power as the mayor elect of Portland, Renard is poised to bring rise to his own brand of law and order. Nick must take a stand to protect his city and those closest to him, especially his child with Adalind (Claire Coffee). It will take the full force of Nick and his allies to find a way to bring the peace.
Meanwhile, Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) and Rosalee (Bree Turner) grapple with bringing a child into a new and tumultuous world, and Eve (Bitsie Tulloch) faces unsettling identity issues as her former self lurks below the surface.
“Grimm” also stars Russell Hornsby and Reggie Lee.
The series was created by David Greenwalt & Jim Kouf and Stephen Carpenter. Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner (“Hollywood Game Night,” ”Hot in Cleveland”) serve as executive producers along with Greenwalt and Kouf. “Grimm” is a Universal Television and Hazy Mills production.
What do you think? Are you a fan of Grimm? Are you sad the series is ending?
I AM SO UPSET BECAUSE GRIMM IS CANCELLED !!!! IT IS MY FAVORITE SHOW. MY HUSBAND AND I WATCH IT TOGETHER EVERY WEEK. I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE WHAT SPECIAL EFFECTS THEY WILL COME UP WITH IN EVERY EPISODE. LET’S START A MOVEMENT—SAVE GRIMM .
Why on earth would you cancel such a great & interesting series like Grimm. Get rid of some of those so-called reality shows, they stink. Grimm deserves to be continued, especially since it is the only interesting show NBC has on Fridays.
Geez NBC is horrible at ending or canceling good shows remember Dracula, or Providence. Viewers not only watch sit coms or reality shows. Now Grimm is on the chopping block. Sad to see that viewers can’t relate to good shows.
The Dracula show had great visual effect and acting. And how about Constantine? That was good too.
Only reason to ever turn to NBC. Too bad, such a great show with a good group.
NOOOOOOO! I and my hubby love Grimm. It is one of my all time favorite shows. I just don’t want to see it go. Maybe there is possibility to reconsider this?
Wow! What a terrible decision by NBC!!! This series has an exciting and unique story line and provides a much needed relief from all the Reality TV, Zombie shows/movies and rerun series & movies. I love the story lines, character chemistry and variety of the original special effects of the vogueing Wesens. It’s a shame when writers and producers get it right and hit a home run with a series like Grimm give up because viewership is down a bit. People are busy and there are many things in life to take some viewers away from nightly prime time TV… Read more »
I love this show and am sad that it will not continue. I hate reality tv and enjoy fantasy. We need more entertainment that will take us away from daily problems!
Love this show and this should NOT be happening. NBC ends Grimm to put some crap on that will Not last a season. Don’t cancel Grim. #saveGrimm
This was the highlight of my Fri night viewing. It was amazing how they kept the story lines moving and fresh. Great characters with such rapport. Please give us an ending that isn’t lame or hopeless. This really does make me sad.
Am devastated. Really liked the show.
I am SO VERY disappointed……this show is the best. NBC sucks.
We will miss this great show.
I’m so very upset that Grimm is cancelled! Grimm has wonderful actors with Great Chemistry.I’ve looked forward to every season since the series started.
Terrific show. Really going to miss it
It is really a sin that such a good show doesn’t get the accolades that it deserves. This show, based on the Brother’s Grimm Fairytate, used imagination to the max. The creativeness was off the charts in all respects. I was hooked from watching the pilot. I will miss it very much!
I too will miss it a lot.
LOVED YOUR ENDING, BUT NOT ENDING ONE OF THE
BEST SHOWS EVER.
THE CAST ARE LOVED BY ALL, ESPECIALLY MY FAMILY.
THANKS FOR YOUR CRAFTS, AND BEING PART OF THIS SHOW.
IF A CHANCE, PLEASE BRING THIS BACK AND THE NEW EXTENDED FAMILY SHOWN AT THE END………
GOD BLESS ONE AND ALL.
BEST WISHES ON ALL YOUR REAL LIVES….PLEASED TO HEAR TWO ARE ENGAGED….BLESS YOU TWO.
