Sad news for Grimm fans. Deadline reports the NBC series will end after its upcoming sixth season.
The drama follows homicide detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli), who is charged with protecting humans from supernatural creatures. The cast also includes Russell Hornsby, Silas Weir Mitchell, Reggie Lee, Sasha Roiz, Bree Turner, and Claire Coffee.
Rumors that this would be Grimm’s final season have circulated since NBC only ordered 13 episodes for season six and Giuntoli said it could be the last season. Ratings for the series have never been particularly high. Season five received an average of only .89 in the 18-49 demo and 3.943 million viewers.
Season six of Grimm is slated to premiere on January 6th at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
From NBC:
“GRIMM”: The final season begins Friday, Jan. 6, 8-9 p.m.
Closing out an incredibly successful series run and giving viewers a chance to say goodbye over the last 13 episodes, the sixth and final season of NBC’s drama “Grimm” will begin its last chapter with the battle fans have long been waiting for — Nick versus Capt. Renard.
The series, which reached the 100-episode milestone last season, has long been a fan and critical favorite, with the Los Angeles Times calling it “terrific and trendsetting… ‘Grimm’ has become a beacon of solid narrative and a weekly reminder of why monsters matter.” The New York Times said “Grimm” is “engaging, clever, tense, funny and well-paced, featuring a remarkably appealing cast.”
As for events leading into the final season, the nefarious forces of Black Claw have been silenced and Nick (David Giuntoli) faces an all too familiar foe in Capt. Sean Renard (Sasha Roiz). Now in the seat of power as the mayor elect of Portland, Renard is poised to bring rise to his own brand of law and order. Nick must take a stand to protect his city and those closest to him, especially his child with Adalind (Claire Coffee). It will take the full force of Nick and his allies to find a way to bring the peace.
Meanwhile, Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) and Rosalee (Bree Turner) grapple with bringing a child into a new and tumultuous world, and Eve (Bitsie Tulloch) faces unsettling identity issues as her former self lurks below the surface.
“Grimm” also stars Russell Hornsby and Reggie Lee.
The series was created by David Greenwalt & Jim Kouf and Stephen Carpenter. Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner (“Hollywood Game Night,” ”Hot in Cleveland”) serve as executive producers along with Greenwalt and Kouf. “Grimm” is a Universal Television and Hazy Mills production.

I don’t watch much on NBC. If you take Grimm away it will be even less!
This stinks. Goodbye NBC.
This is a great series; wish it would go longer. I can only hope for a chance renewal will be reconsidered.
was missing Grimm checked to find out when new start date would be. I found the awful news.. I am so tried of every time I have a favorite show with an out standing cast it gets canceled. Not every one likes what is on regular TV this is one of the BEST!!!!!!! I wish some one would ask first.
Been missing Grimm during this Fall lineup from NBC! Was shocked to hear the rumor that it might be cancelled. Are you kidding me? This show has story plots and substance that peak my interest. I”m so looking forward to the next season. Please DO NOT CANCEL NBC,
Nooooo! They can’t end Grimm. It’s one of our favorite shows.
Maybe Netflix will pick it up. It is one of our favorite shows, never miss. Please don’t cancel!!!!!!!!
No no no, please nooo. This show could go on for years like Supernatural has. This show is great in so many ways, and I love all the characters, even the ones I love to hate. This is very disappointing news.
I’m with Laura. its about the only show we watch on it as. well. I’m very disappointed in the decision, iIve been waiting ever since last season ended to just now find out we wont ever get the great ending finale. NBC Grimm creators and network suck’
wow are you kidding me, I am so bummed right now. I loved this show, and looked forward to watching it on Friday nights so that my brother and I could discuss it the next day. This really sucks NBC I hope another smarter network picks them up, and I happily will follow them.
GRIMM is the only reason to watch NBC at all during the regular season. At least I’ll finally be able to delete NBC completely from my channel lineup. Hope a smarter network picks up the show so it can continue for its NUMEROUS fans. Too bad ratings overall are so heavily weighted toward young viewers despite the fact that humans continue to live longer and longer, and that it had a Friday night timeslot which never fares well in that market. But I’ll gladly change the channel to ANY network that will pick up GRIMM because I adore this show… Read more »
