NBC has decided to cancel their struggling comedy Growing Up Fisher after a single season of 13 episodes. While there won’t be a second season, there are still two new episodes to come.
Growing Up Fisher follows an unorthodox family that becomes closer after the parents divorce. The cast includes Elfman, J. K. Simmons, Eli Baker, Ava Deluca-Verley, and Lance Lim. Jason Bateman is the show’s narrator.
The sitcom started off with okay ratings — at least when compared to NBC’s other comedies. They dropped over the course of the season however and hit a new series low this week with a 1.2 demo rating and 5.05 million total viewers. That surely didn’t help this show’s chances.
There are two unaired episodes remaining and NBC has announced that they will air in a one-hour block on Wednesday, May 28th.
What do you think? Did you like this sitcom? If you ran the network, would you have cancelled it or renewed Growing Up Fisher for season two?
Our family looked forward to watching both Growing Up Fisher and About a Boy. We think they should both be back next season.
We loved this show even better than “About a Boy”, but for some reason they’re keeping that show and canceling this one. ITS A GREAT SHOW! Very entertaining and funny! Maybe try a earlier slit if anything but we LOVED it and I know a lot of other people that do as well. RENEW THE SHOW!
I cannot believe NBC cancelled this great family comedy.
There are so few shows suitable for families anymore.
I surely hope they reconsider this mistake.
As a grandmother, I liked the show because I could watch it and/or discuss it with my grandkids. So few shows are suitable for family viewing. I think it is a mistake to cancel it before people even have a chance to find it. Really too bad.
We love this show! Growing up Fisher is so funny, sometimes you have to give a sitcom a 2 season chance. I really hope another network will pick it up!
So disappointed!
I can’t believe they cancelled this so soon. It’s a far better comedy than most, with good characters and story lines. I’m sad because wholesome family shows like this, with no swearing, lewd jokes, bed-hopping, and general immorality, are almost impossible to find anymore. I wish they’d at least renew for another year and promote it. Sometimes it takes a while for people to find a new show. This one deserves another chance. I’m glad other people feel strongly enough to comment.
I really can’t believe you cancelled ,”growing up Fischer ” best show in a long time…. Bring IT BACK please!!!
This was our favorite show!! I hope someone picks this up. It was so much more entertaining then half the shows they are keeping!
How man comments does it take NBC? There are a lot of people out in “tv land” that LOVE THIS SHOW!!! What does it take to get it renewed??? Geez!!!!
Big disappointment. It was such a good sitcom–first sitcom I’ve enjoyed in years. Maybe a different network will have the good sense to pick it up.
Growing up Fisher is the best – I thought it should be on for an hour – its a good family program with learning values – please don’t take it off – my family will miss it
I looked forward to watching that every Tuesday. At first I was into About a boy but then was more entertained with Growing up Fisher. I do not understand why everyone wouldn’t have watched that. It is a hoot………. I would hope anther network will pick this series up.
LOVE LOVE LOVE Growing Up Fisher! Everything about this story is fantastic! Please bring it back!
I wish that NBC would reconsider & continue to run this show-very funny! I really enjoy the humor. Well written & good actors.
BIG mistake to cancel this cute, funny, and heartwarming series. I seldom watch any series on a regular basis with the exception of this one. It was something to look forward to on Tuesday evening. I hope NBC reconsiders and gives it another chance.
