NBC has decided to cancel their struggling comedy Growing Up Fisher after a single season of 13 episodes. While there won’t be a second season, there are still two new episodes to come.
Growing Up Fisher follows an unorthodox family that becomes closer after the parents divorce. The cast includes Elfman, J. K. Simmons, Eli Baker, Ava Deluca-Verley, and Lance Lim. Jason Bateman is the show’s narrator.
The sitcom started off with okay ratings — at least when compared to NBC’s other comedies. They dropped over the course of the season however and hit a new series low this week with a 1.2 demo rating and 5.05 million total viewers. That surely didn’t help this show’s chances.
There are two unaired episodes remaining and NBC has announced that they will air in a one-hour block on Wednesday, May 28th.
What do you think? Did you like this sitcom? If you ran the network, would you have cancelled it or renewed Growing Up Fisher for season two?
This show was great. Hope another network would pick it up.
My family realy enjoyed this show. Like others have stated it was a good clean show
that all family member can watch together.
I agree with Patty – I’m sick of reality shows. When the occassional decent family sit- com comes along, the network cancels it.
That is a real shame, our family of 5 really enjoyed watching that together, we hardly ever agree on a show and make time for TV but did for this show. We really don’t watch NBC much and now it will be even less. How about less reality and contest shows and more good wholesome family entertainment.
I am deeply disappointed that NBC is not renewing Growing up Fischer, this was such a wholesome family show and it was actually funny. I hope you get enough complaints to hopefully bring it back, if not, I guess I will not be watching NBC anymore and just go back to reading or whatever. Highly Disappointed!
Not a bad show. It has its niche. Shame to see it go.
Come on NBC , renew it . It was such a good sitcom, everyone loved watching it, check the above comments! So plz. make a season 2 and it’ll be appreciated by everybody. so plz, rethink your decision and renew Growing Up Fisher.
Its a shame that this show got cancelled.I was particularly shocked when i heard this ,it was one of the few shows which were genuinely funny unlike the rest of the garbage.I hope some other network picks it up.
I really enjoyed this show and was hoping for another season. It was funny and family oriented and unique. The cast and writing are wonderful. Witty and clean and sweet. I think it struggled because it didn’t seem to be on at the same time/day. How do you expect a new show to succeed when that’s not consistent? Please bring it back!!!
This was a great show bring it back
Seriously?? This show was a family favorite. It was a family show. Sad that NBC cancels all the shows that a family can watch and replaces them with garbage.
This was an adorable show that the whole family could watch, shame on the network, we loved it. If reality tv is what reality is becoming, how sad, why can’t a good, cute comedy based on a true life story stay there for those of us who like cute and funny? Back to reading a good book and not watching tv again.
As usual no sex, no swearing, and no rape or killings and our society will not watch the program. A good clean funny show is gone it is sad.
This was me and my family’s favorite show!!!! The really need to rethink their decision
NBC needs to rethink this! They are throwing out GOLD
This was one of the best sitcoms to come along in a very long time. I really looked forward to season two. A true family program. Shame on NBC I’m through with this network.
