The show’s never had good ratings but AMC keeps renewing Halt and Catch Fire anyway. This time around, the cable channel is moving the series to Tuesday nights. Will the numbers improve or get worse? Will the show be cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Stay tuned.
The story of Halt and Catch Fire picks up as Mutiny leaves Texas for the big leagues of Silicon Valley. Founders Cameron Howe (Mackenzie Davis) and Donna Clark (Kerry Bishé) search for the idea that will launch Mutiny as a player, but new collaborators test their partnership. Gordon Clark (Scoot McNairy) struggles to find a place within his wife’s company as Joe MacMillan (Lee Pace) builds upon his empire, reinventing himself with a bold play that shocks the Valley and sends him back into the lives of his former partners.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

What do you think? Do you like the Halt and Catch Fire TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a fourth season?
I don’t care what the ratings are this show is great, and if they can renew for a third season with low ratings. Than they can do it again with a fourth and actually finish the story or just keep going for 8 seasons I don’t care, but they better finish it. I’m Tired of good shows ending abruptly because of ratings and they don’t finish the story and leave the viewer hanging, so finish it!!!and the season 3 finale was done beautifully.
They Renewed it! Forth and final season…

Excellent show; one of my favorites!
I love the show and have nearly finished season 3. I have recommended itito family and friends. Please make another season 4.
I loved the 1st season the second seasons was good but not as good as the first. The third season was out of this world by far the best season. It was shorter but that means there was very little filler. I really wish more business dramas (were the business is in forefront not just a secondary setting) that try to be close and true to real life were more common on TV. So much of my life and so many Americans revolve around work decisions and company politics. That is what we think about more than almost anything, are… Read more »
This season is the best by far. The creators of this show took over the running of it which is why I think this season is so fantastic. The show is loved by critics. I believe part of the reason that ratings is down a little this season is because AMC moved the show from Sunday to Tuesday without promoting it. It needs to be promoted more by AMC like it does for The Walking Dead. Hopefully AMC will rerun HACF for another season like it has for Turn: Washington’s Spies which is another show that doesn’t have great ratings.… Read more »
I actually like season 1 & 2 better. I feel like season 3 turned into a soap opera instead of a retro tech show
They need to put this show on after the walking dead, then plenty of people would find out about the show. That would do wonders for the ratings.
Renew this show please as it’s a good change of pace that starts from the roots and molds into the modern silicone the valley of today’s real world with awesome casting.
I absolutely love this show and have been watching from the very first episode. The show is well written and the actors are fantastic, especially Lee Pace. He is compelling to watch. Each season as built on the one before and keeps getting better. I truly hope that AMC sticks with this show despite ratings and gives it another season or two so that we can get to see the next leg of the journey. The fans who are devoted to this show deserve it as well as the creators/writers and actors who brought it to life.
This show had a slow start developing, but has really grown into a great storyline and has awesome character development. I personally love the ties to the 1980’s computer and internet industry, but it could be just about any major historical paradigm shift. It’s about how human nature never really evolves when a business opportunity does. People will always have human flaws, and they really come out when under pressure. Pride, greed, lust and love are all represented in the characters of HACF. Other than the clothing and the occasional backdrop of 1980’s IT branding, it could easily be modern… Read more »
Halt and Catch Fire needs to have a fourth season that show at least has the potential to have maybe 5-6 seasons!
I love this show!!! AMC did it a great disservice by running the show against the new fall season shows!!! Plus, it never promotes the show. People need to FIND or LEARN ABOUT the show to even watch it! AMC please renew this show!!!! I find it so interesting watching how the computer and internet grew…even if they aren’t the real brand names. Also, watching their version of the CES SHOW was also interesting.
The show started off great, but then nosedived into feminism being shoved down your throat. It became less about the growth of technology and more about “see, women can start business too”. They are ruining Lee Pace’s character with every episode (making him fully gay? when before it was he would literally sleep with a guy just to spite someone or get his way. He used his sexuality as a weapon, not as a cry for help).
The producers (and writers) destroyed an emotionally elegant premiere and turned it into a rapid cliffaller. The HACF pilot (season 1, episode 1) should go down in TV history as one of the most compelling, inventive and unique 60 minute mini-movies ever imagined. Beautiful and brilliant are two words to describe the first episode and those that follow. Sadly, I ask what were the writer’s thinking? Instead of exposing the authentic evolution of the 4 central characters, their challenges as they engage technology, business and life together, the true joy of the show has been lost. The first season was… Read more »
Well stated HACF
It’s so bad then why do you keep watching each week. If something was a waste of my time I wouldn’t keep doing it every week.
Halt and Catch Fire is a victim of the “too much content ” era we find ourselves in. It had gotten lost in the shuffle and that is terribly unfortunate. This is a brilliantly written and acted show that deserves a much wider audience. It is a credit to AMC and I hope they continue to stand by its excellence.
Halt and Catch Fire is Emmy worthy. Lee pace is brilliant! For such a quality show I’m shocked more people haven’t caught on to the Best Drama on TV.
Yes! Best show of its type…EVER.
