Nick isn’t smiling over this news. Syfy has cancelled the Happy! TV show so there won’t be a third season for this strange series. The program is based on a comic book series that was created by writer Grant Morrison and artist Darick Robertson.
A comedic, fantastical crime drama, Happy! stars Meloni with Patton Oswalt (voice), Lili Mirojnick, Medina Senghore, Ritchie Coster, Patrick Fischler, and Christopher Fitzgerald. The season two cast also includes Ann-Margaret and Big Show. Happy! centers on a former cop, Nick Sax (Meloni). As a hitman on the skids, a drunken and depressed Nick had his existence turned upside down by Happy (Oswalt), an imaginary unicorn, who is out to save the day. In the second season, Sax is trying to stay sober and do right by his family, but old nemesis Sonny Shine (Fitzgerald) is now on a mission to Make Easter Great Again (MEGA) with the help of his demented Easter Bunny henchman.
The second season of Happy! averaged a 0.09 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 286,000 viewers. Compared to season one, that’s down by 56% in the demo and down by 57% in viewership.
Given the decline in ratings and because there was a nearly 14-month gap between the end of season one and the start of season two, the cancellation doesn’t come as much of a surprise. However, Universal Content Productions plans to shop the series to other outlets and the first season is supposedly performing well on Netflix.
Syfy has also cancelled the Deadly Class TV show. The cable channel appears to be cleaning house as Nightflyers, Channel Zero, and Killjoys (final season starts July 19th) have all been cancelled.
What do you think? Do you like the Happy! TV show? Should this Syfy series have been cancelled or renewed for a third season? Would you watch the show elsewhere?
Second season was even better than the first. Really hope there is a third.
It’s amazing, I REALLY hope Netflix will give it another season!!!
Just finished watching season 2 of Happy ….fantastic series and so much can be done with it. If SyFy don’t plan a third season, hopefully Netflix will pick it up!
keep Happy going please. very disappointed to hear its being cancelled. Its not for everyone but its really good. Netflix needs material like this or they risk being a snooze fest. Keep it real Netflix and MAKE IT HAPPYN
The show is BRILLIANT. Just watched it all on Netflix. I hope my watch contributed to persuading Netflix to pick it up somehow!! And keep it loyal to that direction it seemed to be going of the family all turning into punisher types
Please continue Season 3 of Happy I really enjoy the series
I thought Happy Season 1 and Season 2 were both outstanding and great entertainment. I am hooked and ready for Season 3. Please continue the series thanks
PLEASE BRING BACK A THIRD SEASON
Happy absolutely brilliant fucked up series with some fantastic acting loved every minute
I was the biggest fan of the first season. I even bought a stuffed animal. I freaking love Christopher Maloney. I love the craziness. At first I couldn’t get used to all the violence in the blood, but then I realized how damn funny it was. And smoothie is the best. The whole Christmas series was outstanding, the plot was clean and understandable. We were all terrified for Haley. The second year I had a real hard time getting into the whole Easter thing and the crazy twists. The Teletubby creatures were ridiculous, and the whole song and dance crap… Read more »
Ahhh **** off SYFY. The one program that is actually decent on your channel, that you could take credit for, is now gone. All your other shows suck and your inevitable administration takes a good long step forward. **** your channel, it is not worth anything.
This show is hilarious and unique in it own right I am currently in the middle of season 1 and I really hope Netflix picks this series up
Definitely needs a season 3. Its outrageous, gory, funny and literally laugh out loud tv
season 3 is a must. Netflix should pick it up and run it! this is the best dark comedy that i feel has ever been produced.
This show definitely needs a season 3. Most unique show ive seen in a long time.
It is a shame a good shows get cancelled just as it started to get really WTF.
