TNT has pulled the plug on their medical drama, HawthoRNe. The Jada Pinkett Smith TV series has been cancelled after three seasons on the air.
The cancellation news comes following the end of the third season a couple weeks ago. Despite having a strong start in its freshman year, HawthoRNe’s ratings have declined over the past two seasons.
Year three ended up averaging a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.51 million viewers, a loss of 22% and 19% when compared to season two. Year two had averaged a 0.9 in the demo and 3.09 million, a decline of 18% and 9% from season one.
When compared to TNT’s other summer shows, season three HawthoRNe had one of the cable channel’s smallest audiences. Only already-cancelled Men of a Certain Age had worse numbers.
In a statement, TNT said, “TNT has decided not to order a fourth season of Hawthorne. TNT truly appreciates the tremendous dedication of everyone involved in Hawthorne. The series gave TNT the opportunity to work with many outstanding people, including Jada Pinkett Smith and the rest of the show’s talented cast, crew, producers and writers. We wish everyone involved with Hawthorne nothing but the best.”
What do you think? Are you sorry that HawthoRNe has been cancelled? Why do you think people stopped watching? What would you liked to have seen happen in season four?

I love this show. I look forward to see this every Tuesday. Lookin to see what’s next. I was looking forward to next season to see what happened to everybody. Was it a season that everything got back to normal. Maybe not because of what happened to marc character. Who knows now since its not returning. I’m highly upset. I watched the show twice on Tuesdays, when it comes on and again after memphis beat. I agree with wrapping it up to see what happened after season three.
oh, WOW! Sure left it hanging! Should at least do a 2 hr. wrap up to let us know what
happened
Nooooooooo!!!! I loved this show please please bring it back!!!!!
Too Bad! I liked the show and have watched it from the start! Now I will never know who shot Marc Anthony! This is why I dislike watchin g TNT they always cut shows in half!
I absoutely love this series…..I am sorry that it has been cancelled
I absolutely loved this show—i thought the story line was great and i loved the drama between Tom and Nick fighting over Christina! it was very exciting. I am very upset that this show has been cancelled—-seems like all the shows i like on TNT are being cancelled, first Men of a Certain Age now Hawthorne…WTH??? On the other hand Camille was such an annoying, nosey, borderline ****. I don’t understand why she was in the scenes so long- shouldn’t she be in college somewhere!!! i definately would not miss her!! TNT— i need you to get it together, people… Read more »
I loved the show and watched every single episode, however due to unforseen cable issues (my cable is totally messed up, and have been having it worked on for months now) if I recorded it, it didn’t record, if I tried to watch it live it the cable would reboot, etc. I tried to watch as much as possible on Demand, but there are still 2 episodes that have not shown up on there yet. And of course even more than the rest of my complete HD/Digital cable line-up, the On Demand feature is most often down. I think the… Read more »
I cant beleive this. We loved this show, we all talked about it at work. Now we wont find out who shot him. Way to go TNT for not having enough guts to keep it going until the story line was done. I’m not happy about this, Just like some other shows on TNT, cancelled in mid season with cliff-hangers and not knowing the end result. I am getting tired of watching shows on TNT and they pull the plug so no one knows how they are going to end.
I sooooo agree!!! We can only assume that Tom killed him– at least that’s what i think….booooooooo to TNT for letting this show get cancelled!
The storyline has changed, but that did not give you a good enough reason to cancell the show. I enjoyed the show if you put the storyline back to the demanding Nurse Hawthorne that made the show what it was for the first three seasons.
Had to be cancelled. Glad it was… From being a nurse and telling Doctors how to treat patients to now they are going to put her in charge of the entire hospital??? All the times she ordered multi hundred thousand dollar treatments on her thoughts or feelings alone without the insurance backing? Who paid for that stuff? And after doing that so many times why is it that she was seen to be someone you want running a hospital??? Right… Not even close to being believable. And this season??? Wow… What a crappy season.. Her daughter is a **** that… Read more »
I really liked Hawthorne. However, season 3 was my least favorite. I didnt like the story of her daughter and Derek Luke. They fell in love off camera because I never saw how the love started on camera. I wanted to see what would happen with the doctor and his terminally ill father. I wish Christina did not have an affair. She did not really have any accountability. Tom was a good catch. I love Marc Anthony role and his storyline outisde of him having an affair with Christina. I wanted one more season to pull out of the 3rd… Read more »
I’ve seen very show and liked this series, but it has gone steadily downhill. The story line had progressively become more dark compared to the earlier episodes. This show could have been a hit, but it just got too depressing to make it.
Can’t believe this. I’m outraged. I can’t believe the ratings!
Everybody talked about Hawthorne at work.
No Surprise here!!!!
please keep hawthorne
I love the show.I just didn’t like how the story line was written.I think jade should had been a good wife and mother to her family. She having an affair that I didn’t agree with. The 1st and 2nd season was very well written. This season I didn’t like when she was attack ,lost her child and had an affair. This time when you bring it back for the 4th season, please let jada and her husband reunite, have a baby, and have her daughter to date a guy her own age.For once I would love to see a women in charge and keeping things in order.Thats… Read more »
