It’s being reported by Dateline that USA Network has renewed their original drama, In Plain Sight, for two more seasons.
The new deal will take the cable show through its fifth season and the main cast, including Mary McCormack, Frederick Weller and Paul Ben-Victor, are all set to return.
Seasons one and two were comprised of 12 and 15 installments respectively. Year three was supposed to have 16 episodes but was cut short to 13. The early wrap reportedly happened because showrunner and executive producer John McNamara had to take a leave of absence for medical reasons.
It’s unknown at this point how many episodes USA has ordered for seasons four and five or, if the show will wrap its run after that. An official announcement has not been released.
What do you think? Are you glad to hear In Plain Sight is coming back for not one but two more seasons? Should it end after that or continue to season six?

I really wish they would give us a clue as to when it was starting. I was terrified this show was cancelled> USA has already made the stupid mistake of cancelling some wonderful shows. Please let us know when its starting soon how else are we supposed to watch it?
YES! It’s coming back!!! to the PTB thx. You made my year. When will the episodes start? Can’t wait.
Love this show. Intriguing plots, clever dialogue, likeable and easy to relate to characters, not to mention talented actors. What’s not to like? I look forward to every season. Keep them coming.
I love the show and I wish it would go on for more seasons. After Kyra decided to end “The Closer” after this coming year, In Plain Sight moves to the top of my TV shows.
I’m glad to see it coming back but I thought the writing for the last season was anemic. They’ve got great actors, a great plot with all sorts of possibilities…….I’ve loved the USA programming and this show for the first 2 years was fabulous……hope they can pull it off and come up to the ranks of the other great USA programs, Royal Pains, Burn Notice, and White Crime.
I am glad to see that it’s coming back…it keeps the viewer involved with the action. Marshall’s character also seems to do a good job of keeping Mary’s character down to earth…most of the time! I am looking forward to seasons 4 & 5 and beyond.
Oh, I am so happy. I love this show.
O-M-G!!!! I thought it was gone, gone, gone!! With its unfortunate replacement being Chase – GAG! Yet another blonde on TV – what-ever!! No one catch match Mary’s self-deprecating personality and no holds barred jaded view of life! Refreshingly honest! Love it and no, do *not* get her together with Marshall – let’s enjoy the sizzle and spark sans the flame as this leaves much more to the imagination! Thanks!!!!
I’m so Happy that it is coming back….I love the show! I keep waiting to see the announcements for the new season it, Can’t wait!
Thank you USA Network for the insight to keep In Plain Sight!
If this were the IPS run by the creator, whom USA fired, I’d rejoice. Since it isn’t, and since the new managers have chosen to take Mary from merely humorously cynical to the reigning hatefully obnoxious, soulless ***** of cable TV, I have little use for the show. It seems to me the human heart of the show was ripped out and left to die at the end of the second season. I’ll watch a couple of shows in Season 4 to see if anyone on the production team has had an epiphany about what made the series so good… Read more »
I am so very happy to here in plain sight hasnt been canceled! my big question is when will the 4th season run on tv! im sure alot of people would love to know!
IPS is one of the best shows out there and I am pleased it is set to continue… Any show that can sell the story line like this one deserves to keep running. The cast has just enough real-life flaws to keep one saying, “yeah, I get that…” Looking forward to BOTH upcoming seasons!
I hope that IPS continues. I truly enjoy this series for its twists and idiosyncrasies. it is fun to watch heroes who keep working through their flaws.
I am thrilled to know that IPS is coming back. Since a great show like Outlaw was cancelled I was worried that Mary and Marshall might not come back either. At least there are a few show left worth watching, but with all the reality crap out there TV will soon be nothing but fluff. I don’t even know why it is called reality, if some of those show represent reality then we as a nation are in big trouble.
