NBC isn’t investing any more in Indebted. The network just announced they’ve cancelled the freshman TV show after only one season.
The sitcom stars Steven Weber and Fran Drescher as two parents who move in with their son and his wife when their personal finances take a nosedive. The cast also includes Adam Pally, Abby Elliott, and Jessy Hodges.
Season one of Indebted averaged a 0.36 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.59 million viewers, making it one of NBC‘s lowest-rated new series for the 2019-20 broadcast season. Out of 19 scripted series on the peacock network, Indebted landed in the 18th spot.
Of NBC’s new crop of scripted series for 2019-20, only Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist was renewed for a second season. In addition to Indebted, freshman series Bluff City Law, Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector, Sunnyside, and Perfect Harmony have all been cancelled.
What do you think? Have you seen the Indebted TV show? Should NBC have renewed this family comedy series for a second season?
The show would have been stronger if it had featured more of Fran and Steven Weber. The kids were not that intersting and the concept needed more work. But Fran and Steven were misused
Very much enjoyed it. Definitely would have watched it again and had hoped for it. Was disappointed to learn of cancellation.
Absolutely! Loved this show! It was just getting started. It didn’t receive enough time to get an accurate rating. The more I watch the reruns the more my family and I love it! Renew this show!
Indebted should of been renewed, it was such a great show, I looked forward to it every and still watch every episode from the beginning. Please reconsider renewing it I truly believe that ratings would pick pick up on a different slot and more advertising for it.
the show was not good and I knew it was going to get canceled ratings were horrible and acting was really bad not one of Frans best characters she could have done better she’s actually really funny
Indebted should have been renewed. Fran Drescher was funny as usual and the writing was great! Not a fan of Steven Weber. You should give it another shot or Fox or ABC or the CW should run with it. It’s a light hearted family comedy. We need this today. Big Mistake!!! Big Mistake!!
I feel that NBC should have given Indebted a second chance I feel the Indebted should go to another network and get picked up by another network such as CBS or Fox Fran Dresser was on CBS with The Nanny back in the 90s Fran Dresser should take her sitcom Indebted to CBS or Fox network if that’s possible all I can say is bad luck for you
It was confusing! What happened to their grandchildren? The first episode showed two adorable kids but we never saw them again!
I love Drescher but this was a terrible show: unfunny and poorly written. Next!
My dad and I actually liked it. But they sabatoged it by moving around the timeslot. Fran is the best. And Steven weber is awesome. It also seemed kind of lgbt inclusive and progressive in that way. Tvs only getting worse. Big bangs and dick van dykes come around once in a generation. I miss old tv. Saturday morning cartoons, tgif family matters and step by step. Roseanne and cosby. Maybe horrible people but at least they made watchable sitcoms!
It was a good show come on because it was real showed family issues. My family will miss it.
I do love Fran Drescher, but wow…I tried to watch Indebted and it was just so bad that I couldn’t make it through the second episode. I am sure that the cancellation is not a shock to the actors. Barely a million people were tuning in. Unless you are on the CW, those numbers won’t fly on network TV.
Thank goodness! Worst sitcom I’ve seen in years.
