Tonight, ABC Family airs the last episode of the first season of Jane By Design. Will the show be cancelled or be given a second season instead?
Jane By Design follows a quirky teenager who has a unique fashion sense. By chance, she gets hired at a hip fashion house and must juggle her job responsibilities while still attending high school. The cast includes Erica Dasher, Andie MacDowell, Rowly Dennis, India de Beaufort, Ser’Darius Blain, Brooke Lyons, Nick Roux, Meagan Tandy, Matthew Atkinson, and David Clayton Rogers.
The TV series debuted in January to 1.6 million viewers and a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic. The numbers for week two dropped about 30% but came back up again in weeks three and four.
ABC Family initially ordered 10 installments and those finished airing on March 6th. Rather than renew Jane By Design for a second season, the cable channel ordered eight more installments to be added to season one.
Those started airing in June and, to date, the first season of Jane By Design has averaged 1.29 million total viewers and a 0.5 demo rating.
Will it be cancelled or renewed? That’s hard to say. It’s the worst performing scripted series on ABC Family right now — but not by much. The latest episodes have performed about as well as the first batch, when ABC Family seemed happy enough with the numbers to order more episodes.
It’s not a positive indication that ABC Family hasn’t renewed it yet but a renewal could still be forthcoming. Either way, we’ll let you know as soon as we hear some news about the show’s fate.

Really hope renew it! It’s one of the few I can actually gt my husband to watch with me that he doesn’t sit there and poke fun or harp about. The characters are fabulous, story line is great, it’s like ABC Family’s best kept secret! Hopefully that secret becomes a fast spreading rumor!
I love this show it should most definatly get a second season! It just needs more advertising so ppl know that it’s on bc personally if I hadn’t thought Janet’s outfit in the magazine promos wasnt cute I would have never started watching. Mostly I don’t watch any of the other abc shows well except Jane by design and recently bunheads.

It should totally be renewed!!!! I would be crushed if it wasn’t!!!!! All of the fans need to know what happened!!!!!!
It should be renewed. Maybe they don’t have as many viewers as abcfamily would like, but they said so themselves, they have a really loyal fanbase online. Because of that, they’ve been thinking about renewing it.
RENEW, its the best show. And I know soooo many people who love it. I’d be so disappointed if it was cancelled.
We need to have a second Season! It’s a great show and the fanbase is really amazing! The ratings are good enough to have another season, the writing and the actors are awesome! It would be a big mistake not to renew it!

First Chloe King, now this!? I love this show!!! THEY CAN’T cancel it!! like a few other people here, I’m in college and in my 20’s and watching Jane By Design ALWAYS puts me in a good mood for he rest of the day.. I look forward to it every week! And seriously, if they cancel anything, it should be Secret Life because it’s INCREDIBLY stupid and annoying, never funny, and completely negatively full of drama ALL the time. So yeah, I guess my opinion is NO NO NO NO NO do NOT cancel Jane By Design.
Renew it! We need to see what happens with Billy and Jane! They need to be together….it can’t end like that!!!!!!
Honestly, the show is wonderful. I live in Europe and I can only watch it off the internet and I can say the same for my friends. Every good show on this channel get’s canceled…I hope that Jane By Design gets renewed, it is a brilliant show and I really love it!
